From what was posted on another topic, nonprofit hospitals and churches that are 501(3)(c) corporations are included in the following I guess.

Nonprofits are required to submit their financial statements and other information -- including the salaries of directors, officers, and key employees -- to the IRS. The IRS and nonprofits themselves are required to disclose the information on Form 990 to anyone who asks. Nonprofits must allow public inspection of these records during regular business hours at their principal offices.

In addition, people can request information from the IRS by writing a letter, including the name of the organization, the year, and the type of tax return requested, and send it to:

That was a little insensitive for those that are being checked out of the hospital. By the way, if the one of the employees is full time at Union General, where does he find time to be the CFO of Appalachian Home Health: weekends?, holidays?, night?
This "UGH" employee that you speak of as being the CFO of AHHC is only the CFO by title. He does not, nor is he expected to, or legally bound to spend his holidays, weekends, nights or any other off time from the hospital at AHHC. AHHC IS STILL OWNED & RAN by the Gowder Family.

The way it was set up, in the beginning, was for 5 out of the 7 Gowder kids to all have a small share of the business, with Dr. George & Mrs. Martha Gowder owning 51% of the business, therefore giving Dr. & Mrs. Gowder the final say in any & all business decisions. Dr. George never actually worked at AHHC, but he was the CFO, just like the UGH employee that you speak of. Mrs. Martha Gowder, however, worked at AHHC almost every day, until her death, in 2006.

What has happened now, is that Dr. George is old & sick, & just does not need the stress of being the CFO any longer, stress only from having to be the deciding vote on important issues, because that is really the only thing that he, or the new CFO, are involved in at AHHC. But, that being said, it was still unneeded stress for Dr. George Gowder.

So, the new CFO, who, by the way, has owned part of AHHC since its opening, decided to help out the family, & he bought out Dr. George Gowder's shares in the company.

He is now the CFO of AHHC, as well as an employee of UGH, which however, legally, is not a conflict of interest. When someone is discharged from any hospital in GA, & they receive orders from their doctor to obtain home health care, legally, the hospital has to give them the names of all home health agencies that serve the area on which that patient lives. Of is then up to the patient, their family, etc, to choose which agency they are most comfortable using.

It's not like UGH is pushing patients to choose AHHC, or even suggesting to patients that they should make that choice.

So, there is absolutely no conflict of interest here. I honestly believe that no matter who was in a high command, in any business in this county, you all would find fault with them, & the only reason you say the things you do about the Gowders, is because they have been a very well respected & influential family in this county for a very long time, & for whatever reason, envy, jealousy, who knows, you feel entitled to speak of that family, & their business, like you actually have any clue what the truth really is.

Where can I find a complete list of the Board of Directors for Union General Hospital?
There are some praises as well as complaints I have with their staff as well as some not following the hospital's policy and making it up as they go along. The directors should be made aware of the legal aspects of this as well as the state of misrepresentation to the community when this happens. Any Help will be appreciated. So far, I have Dr. Gowder, and Mrs. Paris.

Could someone please assist me in obtaining a complete list of the board of directors for Union General Hospital? There are some issues of praise as well as complaints I have with some of their staff misrepresenting the hospital's policies. The directors should be made aware of the legal jeopardy created by employees making things up as they go along, not to mention the possible backlash and disfavor of the community.

Any help will be appreciated.

They don't make it easy to find out who's on the board, it seems. I didn't find anything on their website. However, this is from the State of Georgia website,

Thank you very much. I never would have found that link to the hospital authority on my own. I really appreciate your help and I will 'Pay it Forward' when given the opportunity ;-)

Let us hope so. He is the only one on it with enough sense to keep the doors open.

How is Mike Gowder going to be able to supervise his brother Davis Gowder now that he has been arrested on drug charges, and hopefully he will not be allowed to be on the board of directores.Lets pray UGH will make David Gowder got to Rehab and will not allow this to be covered up because to cover it up can be disastrous for the hospital, the patients and the community.

The public should be asking why and how Mike Gowder became CEO.
There is much more to the Gowder story.

The NGN quoted Patsy Efird and nothing in the quote addressed if he is still on the board. Is he still the director of ER?

Does Union General perform random drug tests for its employers and its contractors? If it does, what approval procedure exists to perform one?

Dr. Gowder was in charge of all the drug test. He made sure his and his brother Mike's name was not chosen. Nepotism at it's finest

The best thing that could happen is for the hospital to be sold to another large hospital such as Emory or Grady. Get politics completely out of the running of it. It certainly didn't need to get into the development business and that was purely to help out UCB. They get their money and the patients at the hospital gets a little added to their bill to cover the cost. With professional running it could really be an award winning hospital.

Is it true that UGH requires a payment upfront for any procedures done at the hospital, even for an operation? Even if you have insurance?

That is most likely true. They have the same type of directors as the EMC so you can expect to be treated as 2nd class.
