Sorry to hear this, if true. They saved my life. They diagnosed me correctly before being airlifted. It took 12 hrs for the #1 rated NEGMC to come to the same conclusion.

I was disappointed beyond belief with the nurse I had in labor and delivery back in March. Good thing it was my 2nd birth and I had a clue of what was going on BC she sure didn't, and evidently didn't care to have a clue either.

Union Gen. is a very clean, very nice hospital and it is such a shame that it is not better equipped to care for patients.. They do not set broken bones, they do not do MRI's at night. The website shows that the Dialysis center is associated with the hospital but yet if a renal patient on dialysis goes to the hospital they will not keep them here but ship them to Atlanta to Saint Joseph's due to them not doing dialysis here ?? The dialysis facility is right across the street and it makes no sense. Why don't they bring one of the dialysis machines to the hospital and hire a dialysis nurse to give patients on dialysis their treatment here instead of having to go clear to Atlanta.. Seem's like such a waste of such a beautiful facility.

NGMC makes 'Best Hospital' list for second year in a row
By Alyson Shields Staff

GAINESVILLE – U.S. News & World Report has named the Northeast Georgia Medical Center (NGMC) as one of the best hospitals for 2013-2014.

U.S. News Best Hospitals have been ranking hospitals for 24 years. This is the second year NGMC has been selected for the national list. NGMC was also recognized as one of the best hospitals in the Piedmont region of Georgia.

Roughly 15 percent of hospitals are recognized for high performance for their region, according to U.S. News Health Rankings editor Avery Comarow.

“We are thrilled to be ranked for the second year in a row by U.S. News and World Report as a Best Hospital,” said President and CEO of the Northeast Georgia Healthcare System Carol Burrell in a press release.“This national accolade is another feather in our cap for 2013, having been named one of America’s 50 Best Hospitals and a 100 Top Hospitals award winner earlier this year.”

The hospital was also recognized recently as one of the “Most Wired Hospitals and Healthcare Systems of 2013” by the Most Wired Survey. Hospitals & Health Networks magazine released the 2013 results from survey, which was conducted by McKesson Corporation, the College of Healthcare Information Management Executive, AT&T and the American Hospital Association (AHA).

The rankings were published July 16 in collaboration with RTI International, a research organization based in North Carolina.

The hospital could do more if it didn't have the huge right offs from the uninsured.

Don't go into any job thinking it is forever. Maybe a little weeding of employees was necessary. Some people have the notion that they cannot be replaced. Anyone in any business can be replaced from the top CEO to the janitor.

Agreed.

It's just that the employee gets a pamphlet entitled "37 ways to cook and enjoy Spam" when he's laid off;

and

the CEO gets 4 years salary at 4.3 Million Dollars a year,$6 Million Dollars in bonuses, 12 Million Dollars in stock options and grants, free use of the corporate jet, free secretarial assistance, lifetime medical insurance, and a nice $14,000 Rolex when he is fired.

But hey... the employee just shoulda been a CEO.

By the way, the staff at Union General are some if the kindest folks I ever met.

The love and attention they devoted to my family members who have been hospitalized there has been extraordinary.

We wish them all nothing but the best.
