<quoted text>What do you think people have been saying here. Paint and redo the building and leave thew damn street and square alone. Dillsboro NC is a beautiful old town and has no modern brick walkways and planters. just paint and caring people. As for a pay parking lots the metro area have had them since the auto was invented and it worked for them but evidently people want the residents of Blairsville to pay for them a place to park. It is time to use a little common sense. Get rid of the idiots on the DDA.
I can see fixing up the square but for such a small town I can't see why anyone would have to pay to park ..

but you can't fix stupid...
And that's what some of these knuckleheads are.
The stupid people are the ones like you. Pay parking is nothing new and it is not right to make the citizens pay for a lot for a half a doz business's to operate. The city will get nothing but the bill. It doesn't take a genius but it does take some one who can add 2 and 2. You are only showing your ignorance. Since you are from Booger Hollow it really isn't any of you concern anyway now is it.

Time will tell won't it?? I would bet that all the complainers are not involved in any community projects. Much easier to sit back and criticize than do something. If you don't like the downtown area stay home or go around it!!! Nobody is forcing anyone to drive thru or park there or to support any downtown business. I'm thankful that some people recognize that it was run down and that they are trying to give that area some life again, I mean the buildings are falling down in some cases. The old courthouse is so nice, it should not be surrounded by sad falling down old buildings. I think it will be awesome to give some new life to the square. If a town does not change it dries up. It's not going to bring drastic change and flocks of people to the downtown area, but it's a good step in the right direction in preserving the center of our town.
Pretty Ground

You can make the ground pretty with brick and such but the town itself would be like putting makeup on any ugly woman. The town really has no buildings of historic value. So everyone can walk around and say what pretty bricks we have.

I'm sure the city will sell the bricks with your name on them, everyone can buy a brick and lay it in town like a tombstone.

Would those community projects have anything to do with feeding the hungry, housing the homeless or clothing children of less fortunate means. Oh I forgot that community projects in good ole Blairsville is putting down bricks so it is pretty. You are a real winner there.

You are welcome to feed the hungry, house the homeless and cloth children any time you desire. In the meantime, I'd like my tax dollars spent cleaning up the downtown area so it will give those who WORK and own businesses a better opportunity to make some profit. We may even get a new business or two downtown if those smelly moldy old buildings are remodeled.

Never a victim, you're whining like a victim. The taxpayers don't need to pretty up buildings around you so that you can make a profit.

It's just a thought but what if I and a few others like me just vote for someone who will implement projects that will help the residents and let the DDa go by the wayside. It is time to do away with all these govt. entities that aren't voted on. Everything should be done by people who were elected so that they can be held responsible.

Assbite. I don't own a business. I like to shop. So, I spend my time and money in Blue Ridge. Has been keeping me happy for years.

Hey, peeps, no one is going to vote these elected officals out of office when they make improvements. I might remind you how well that game worked for the misfits to get Lamar out of office.
People like improvements in their community.

Suck it up. It is happening. Like it or not.
