Oh we'll.:-(. There was enough on Election Day however to put him in office. I've seen deputies all over the county, not just at the restaraunt. Where do you leave in Fannin county?

This is true and people don't want to face it. Hiring retired FL officers does not impress me. The officers are drawing income from UC and from retirement -- it is just extra money for these old timers. The window tint is the stupiest thing I've seen done in UC. The vehicles look horrid. Despite what TOPIX people write, people are laughing at Mason and his stupidity. Bad choice, Blairsville and Union County.
I don't recall Mason campaigning on trying to impress you, so that alone impresses me.

It's disturbing that you and people like you are concerned in this day and time about people who will actually work for a living, rather than sitting on their rear ends and just coming out to vote on occasion.

If these people are drawing a retirement check from somewhere else, it must be something they obviously earned at some time or another. You're obviously jealous that you aren't doing the same thing, so maybe if you spent more time looking for a job with good benefits you would find yourself in a like position some day.

These 'old' people as you call them are getting far more done, and with far less harrassment and bullying tactics of our young kids and older citizens than the thugs they replaced.

By the way, it's easy to miss Sheriff's Department cars out on routine patrol these days because there is just 1 car at a time rather than a parade of them headed to a barking dog complaint, and you are now able to see an actual person driving for a change.
If you remember, he campaigned on being able to see who was in the car representing Union County.

If you have a complaint with Mason, it's easy to find him and be able to discuss the problem, unlike the last regime. I would suggest you getting off Topix and spending a like amount of time talking to him....if you have a legitimate gripe.

If it's just post election whining and bitching as I suspect it is, I hope its a short meeting.

It is hard for topix people to understand a citizen doesn't agree with what is written here. No. I'm not one of the former deputies. I just dislike Mason and so do many others. We have not seen a patrol in our area in 30 days. None. If I read correctly someone else complained about the same thing.
Or you are one and the same.

Amazing now that it doesn't take three cars to give a ticket.
See more patrol cars in the northern part of county then we ever did with the previous sheriff.

In fact not only do I think you are full of it I also think You are ignorant instead of vulgarity explain why hiring a retired police chief from Davie Fl is a good thing.Your two accomplishments as Sheriff hiring a retiree from Florida and getting tint off windows, big whoop.

Damn Tom, It looks like the next 4 years are going to be pure misery for you and your out of office gang. We know it must be Hell going from King of the Hill for 12 years to being a has been, laughing stock with no hope of ever regaining what you all helped fritter away.
Your good buddy Lamar ( who can do no wrong remember?) thought those new cars were a great deal, especially in the light of all that excess vehicle inventory that's headed for the auction block. You remember don't you? All those miscellaneous vehicles that were farmed out to your friends to ride around in at Union County taxpayer expense.
And by the way, with regard to Mason proudly "wearing the uniform", since he is on duty 24/7/365, you could at least have the decency to stop peeking in the man's windows when he takes a shower or other personal times when other clothes would be more appropriate. Let me guess, you think Mason should have some special Union County Sheriff's pajamas to sleep in?
You out of office, out of luck deadbeat hasbeens never cease to amaze us.
You clearly misread my post, he said he would proudly wear a uniform which he wasnt during last week, not while he asleep in his pajamas. As far as being out of office, I am not.

I have had the opportunity to see some of the changes that Mack Mason has made in the sheriff's dept. and I couldn't be more impressed. His officers have pride in their job, are friendly to the public and Mack himself is on the job almost 24/7. Those of us in the community who really care should pledge our support and backing of this man. he has taken on a huge undertaking and with our help can clean this place up. Way to Go Mack Mason.
Please list the changes he has made besides window tint, new chairs, and hiring Florida idiots. And as far as backing this man, he is not much of a man. He didnt even raise his own son.

As far as getting more done, can you specify? Oh wait, we dont have any window tint but have a front page in the North Ga News with information of a goat killer that has not been caught. Wow! Yet the drugs go on and houses get broken into but the goats will be safe. Way to go Mack!

Guess you didn't read the arrest reports. More than Stephens ever had and they weren't all Mexicans with no drivers licenses. Count how many drug related arrest and go back for the last 12 years and find that many in a week.

Law enforcement manpower put to good use a joint is illegal, so is rolling through a stop or 56 in a 55 I hope the new sheriff will spend more times community policing finding out what problems we are facing than being a traffic enforcement unit, that is why we have the state patrol, i was no fan of Scott's either but I certainly think the S.O. should concentrate on crimes with victims not victimless crimes such as misdemeanor drug crimes. The search was illegal and will be beaten in court but the county and the poor parents will spend thousands on lawyers and what a waste of time. Sodomy is also against the Ga law if you ever had or gave oral sex you are a violator.
