<quoted text>I can't help but laugh at the clowns who get on this forum and start trying to undermine a new sheriff who hasn't even been in office but a couple of weeks. I guess none of you realize that they don't write books or make movies out of drunk do nothing sheriff and a bunch of rogue punks who tried and played like they were Chicago Cops back in the days of ole with corruption in every action. If Mason plays his cards right he will become one the the most known and respected law enforcement officer in this state. All it takes is to make public some of the corruption by both public officials and private sector people who have always thought of themselves as being above the law. I guess it never came across that lame brain of yours that retired investigators from Fl. and members of the law enforcement communities can investigate our high and mighty and not have to worry about how much their families may suffer from it. One of the smartest moves I have seen made in good ole Blairsville in a long time. Many are willing to assist by telling what they know to someone they feel is clean and trying to do the right thing.
Just a good laugh, you are right. All Mack is worried about it window tint and dirty chairs. The other administration spent his time taking care of drug issues, burglaries, and the children in the county. As far as the corruption, what is it? And as far as being the most known officer of the state, this is true but will be noted as the biggest idiot of the state.

Tom, Iím guessing it just didnít occur to you that many people in Union County are wising up, paying more attention, and honestly desire a better government.

If you had taken the time to actually assess credentials of each candidate for Sheriff, certainly you would have realized that those of the new Sheriff far exceeded those of the former.

I find you remarks ...ďIf they had voted for the man, Sheriff Stephens would still be inĒĖ to be quiet humorous. Isnít that akin to proclaiming that if the Nation had voted for Mitt Romney he would have been elected??

I donít know, guess you reasoning is valid, but it is kind of obvious isnít it??

"Went Republican"?? Then why don't we have a new commissioner? That was a change this county desperately needed!!

Writing traffic tickets is not law enforcement but a revenue producer kinda like the tax man and a Chief Deputy Floridian.

Yes writing traffic tickets is part of law enforcement .
That's why we have traffic laws that apply to everyone not to just a few.

The new Sheriff is supposed to be so professional. Why doesn't he make the deputies and dispatchers use the standard Phonetic Alphabet? It is used everywhere and there is a reason. It is easier to understand in times of poor communication. I had to learn it in the USMC many years ago, and have never forgot it. Hey Mack, "Apple, Boy, Cat, Dog," whatever is dumb sounding on the radio....

I suspect he has to use his time for more important things, like peeling off tinted windows and cleaning chairs. You know, that's a priority.

The reason UC has gone Republican is because the Democratic incumbents don't know when to quit and let another viable candidate run. I liked JW but he should never have run for that last term. Same with Stephens. You got to know when to bow out gracefully. The local party blindly supports the incumbent even tho they know it's a losing proposition.

The reason UC is more Republican than before is the people who have recently moved here are Republican. Most retirees and move-ins from other areas of Georgia are Republican, although, in local elections will tend to vote either way if they know the candidate. I know some dumbnut will ask where are my facts. Attend a Republican party meeting and you'll find your facts.

A lot of move-ins didn't know Scott and really didn't know Mason so they voted along party lines according to what people told me. Some didn't care who won and others sorely regret voting for Mason.

Mason won by 500+ votes which isn't a lot.

Lamar is well-known in UC by move-ins for the improvements he has made in the county. We appreciate the nicer things that weren't here years ago. Blairsville has come into this century, thanks to Lamar.

I'm sure he is sorry for your concern about communication. he decided to use English and I know how confusing that can be to some ignorant backer chewing overall wearing fool with the pockets cut out of his overalls so he can play pocket pool while discussing important matter such as when turkey season opens. I think someone needs to go by the jail and pass on your most important suggestion

Some of the deputies use it now, probably former military or larger LE agency. Do you even know what it is? You don't act like it.

That is all Mack knows and that is why a retired state patrolman is not a good choice for sheriff and hiring a retired Fla Police Chief is also wrong.Hopefully His tenure will be like that failed ex sheriff retired state patrolman in Clay Co NC. Writing tickets should be a very small part of a sheriffs duty fighting criminals should be priority one. Ticket writing main use is revenue production the leading cause of accidents is following too closely and there are almost no tickets written for this without an accident being involved.I hope Mack does not turn UCSO into a mini state patrol.

Sherriff Mason needs to clean the county. Too many drugs and too much white collar financial crime. A lot of people are putting faith in the hope this will happen. May God be with him.

I think that what made folks upset about the tinting of windows under Stephens was the increasing suspicion that he and his men/women was "dirty"... and it seemed just one more way to "hide" certain activities and individual's actions. This was paradoxical, given that I always thought the tinting was to protect the identities of "suspects" in the cars- protect their reputations, innocent til proven guilty, etc.
Ultimately, many in the community lost their trust in the SO, and tinting the windows was seen as their giving themselves "cover". If taking it off gives the impression of greater transparency (pun intended) by the SO, then it makes sense to me.
The tinting was a way to hide inmates that have been beaten worse than the Rodney King case. Some had no mug shots taken. To torture an inmate is an disgrace. When your Mayor's assistant can't look at the pictures taken of he beating, her words, "just to hard to look at". My reply, this is thanks to your local police department.
the people of Union county would be surprised at all the police brutality that have taken place. Six officers attacking a man handcuffed, with wittiness. Pictures taken of results. Permanent damages. Many many human rights violated. A few Deputies really love to hurt people. If you read in past post a statement make a Mexican wet their pants. Why is he still a Deputy? Leader to torture, humiliate and show how much power that badge and gun has given him. Too bad there are bad very bad cops.
Back to the tinted windows I have asked for professional advice and was told by an attorney I have the largest lawsuit case in the state. The white undercover car had black windows a huge metal grill on the front. Visited a relative after dark. Left the parking lot. The undercover car followed my car for about twenty miles across the mountain very close within an inch of our bumper. Three people in the car two praying out load. Even on double lanes my car was moving at five miles an hour. The undercover car tinted windows stayed on my bumper. The very near future we are going to investigate this matter. Before that night about six months before I was told on Topix that they could run me off the mountain or plant drugs in my car. This was removed from Topixs about a month later, written by Psycho. I'm sure it's still on the hard drive if someone retrieves it in time.
Tinted windows creates a cover for police while committing crimes.
