"RE-ELECT SHERIFF STEPHENS". It took you one month since my post for you to come up with his good work and that is that he has calmed night shift down and talks to people. Wow, go mack. Some people wanted a change and they got it. Idiot Mason as Sheriff and Miami Vice are running the show. We still have several employees driving vehicles out of the county, which he was so against. He was against Capt Batson driving his vehicle from home to work.. What about Rick Landers who lives in Blue Ridge, Phillip Newberry who also lives in Blue Ridge, and 3 to 4 more from Hiawassee. He also said they should keep a cool head and not a "rambo type" attitude. But why was he wanting to get his deer rifle on the Frank Miller case? I just hope he has gotten rid of "two filthy fabric chairs". You can see what kind of operation he is running. BTW, are there signs directing you to the Sheriffs Office at the Glenn Gooch Bypass? Not... As he said would happen the first week he took office.

By now most folks know two things.

One, that there were more problems within the Stevens’ Administration than could have been imagined, and two, major changes in operations and personnel were crucial.

Now, I would suggest that in your unhealthy obsession in the defense of the former Sheriff’s loss of control of his Law Enforcement Agency; that we now recognize it had become a more undesirable and detrimental force in our community than we had first realized.

The childish, trivial, ranting and raving nature of your postings infer that you are probably actually indeed a part and parcel of that fiasco, and are only attempting to vindicate your own misdeeds.

The fact of the matter is you only prove the current Sheriff and his Administration to be more Professional, and make yourself look more and more foolish.

Not to mention, should you still be in the mix, the information you provide, brings good investigators just one step closer to the removal of another bad apple.

Actually, it took me 2 minutes to respond after I read your post. Sheriff Mason may not like personnel using county vehicles to commute to their residents out of the county, but he may consider the value of the employee out weights the expense of the mileage. That's just good decision making. Many counties throughout Georgia allow personnel to live in adjoining counties. Apparently, Mr. Batson did not meet his requirements. Again, that's HIS decision. Rome wasn't built in a day. If Sheriff Mason said he would put up a sign then he will put up a sign, when HE'S ready to put up a sign.

I think you missed the point, the point is Mack ran his campaign on he would stop the use of county cars outside the county. Yes it is his decision, but why now is it a good decision when the former Sheriff did the same thing. Sometimes change is not really change at all. I do agree that Rome wasn't built in a day, but we forget what happened to Rome in the end.

Professional? No, they aren't.
I had an officer show up at my home flashing lights in my house at midnight because an anal-retentive nasty half-timer who plays God the minute he shows up in the neighborhood called to complain my dog was barking all night and "no one in this neighborhood can sleep." I was awake watching TV and the dog WAS NOT BARKING NON-STOP until the officer showed up. The officer was a total assbite.

It is unfortunate the officers don't pay as much attention to the druggies, speeders, and thieves as they do to a dog on a front porch that barked a couple times.

Exactly.
Stevens was blamed for things where Mason gets a pass by his supporters.

Did you try to stop your dog from barking? Was this the first time he barked that night? Maybe it doesn't pertain to this incident. However, I just don't see how some people allow their dogs to bark incessantly. They're closer to the dog than anyone else but don't seem to hear the dog as well as the neighbors.

And you have people that let their dogs run wild tearing up the neighbors property and the dog owners swear "My dog would not do that"

Dog owners are totally clueless what their dogs are capable of and the destruction they cause to other property owners because they are irresponsible pet owners.

A dog can be a neighbors worse nightmare because of these kind of pet owners.

I guess it must be old age but we need to keep reminding ole Tom Porter that the Sheriff Scott Stephens is over...it's over and in the past.
Regardless of whether Mason works out or not is totally irrelevant. Scott Stephens is gone, long gone and he will never be back as Sheriff of Union County.
Forget the sideshow of Tom's pissing and moaning and temper tantrums....just help the ole boy come to grips with the fact his hero is relegated to the ash heap of history in Union County.

What part didn't you understand. THE DOG WAS NOT BARKING NON-STOP. She was right under my bedroom window on the front porch and was NOT barking. It was about midnight and the dog was on the porch less than an hour. She comes in the house at night but enjoys the front porch for a couple hours before bedtime. None of my dogs live outside! The neighbor is acres away but bitches about everything. Why do people like this come to the mountains for the summer if they are that miserable?

Calling the cops on neighbors is bad juju.

Call on those, but responsible pet owners should not be harrassed by people. None of my dogs leave a fenced area, they sleep inside, but there are assholes out there. Admit it? I live near several who want to turn a rural street into a HOA type environment, bug others to turn our private road into a country road because of DUST! Geez. Get a clue.

Hey RG, what law did he say you were breaking? As far as I know there is not a law for a barking dog.(but I'm still looking) Oh and about the road, it must not have been dirt when they bought their house, so they knew nothing about that dust.

Didn't I read in the NGN that a barking dog ordinance has just been added. If I recall correctly, it was going to be at the discretion of the officer if the dog has been barking too long.

My observation is that Mason is now hiring hot good looking men now and not just good looking women. Has anyone else noticed?

Who are they and are they single?

Didn't say. Of course, the dogs were barking when he drove up in the middle of the night, flashing lights inside my house. No law was broken. LMBO about the dust on the road.
