I know, I missed the "S" in the word President.

coming in from 3rd grade recess, waiting on the steps to go back into the school. My teacher said a Kennedy had been shot and killed, and she hoped it was maybe Robert not JFK. I remember thinking, how odd she would say that.
I watched Ruby shoot Oswald live the following Sunday at my grandparents, and I said 'hey, he just shot him'.

I'm glad all that is over, and the crawl under your desk nuclear drills.

I was 21 years old at Edwards AFB North Base working on several rocket engine test programs when Base Operations announced the President had died and the entire Base was on Lockdown with all work effort to stop except for that identified as critical for the defense of the Country and Base. No one was permitted to leave or enter the Base and no off Base phone calls were allowed.
After systems shutdown and safeing I went with other RED Badged contractor employees to the "O" Club to be with others and see what was happening in Texas, Washington and across the Country. It was quiet, sad and very concerning while we watched on TV and listened to Base actions taking place.
It was a day I will never forget.

17 yrs old and just gotten out of Basic and was assigned to my next training base. Entire unit was put on standby and we thought Cuba was behind it all. Spent the next 8 months in training and then sent to what we referred to then as Southeast Asia.

I was 12 and in class. It was a Catholic school and there was a lot of crying and praying as JFK was a Catholic also.I also remember watching Oswald shot on TV. So sad for our country. A loss of a leader,a loss of innocence. Makes you wonder what could have been.

7th grade classroom Blairsville. My teacher was Mrs Cook. She came in the room crying and said that Kennedy had been shot. I thought that odd that she was so upset?? Didn't know any Kennedy she was related to. Later found out she was referring to the president

Was in 11th grade typing class. It was announced and school was dismissed. Never heard the school hallways so quite upon dismissal.

Was in my Steak House in southeast Mo. The news came over the radio. It sure was a sad day. I closed as soon as the tables cleared..
