Yes, I must say, Coming Soon is a bit smug - maybe he/she should start sharing real details to see if we are interested otherwise I'm with you - not going.

Have you tried Mike's fried oysters. I try to stay away from fried food. His fried oysters take me all the way back to Louisville, Ohio river, Churchhill Downs, And Mazzonis. Mike's fried oysters are from heaven.

TIRED OF STANDING wrote:
Mike's Seafood on Murphy Hwy has great food, but the lack of no service SUCKS!!! last weekend my wife and I went there again for supper. It was 5:30pm when we walked in the door. The line was already backed up to the door. So we had to stand in line to place our order, it took 25 minutes before we reached the counter where we place our order, We paid in advanced and went and sat down. We sat at the booth next to the exit door. The line waiting to place orders had now made a 90 degree bend. People were lined up all the way across the front of the store on the inside to the exit door. That ment you had peoples butts, women with pocket books and coats hanging over the table while you were eating. I looked to see if MR. MIKE GURLEY was going to make people move away from peoples tables that were trying to eat and make them form a line outside. He was standing behind the bar as if he didn't care, WHY BECAUSE HE ALREADY HAD MY MONEY DIDN'T CARE IF I OR ANYBODY ELSE ENJOYED THEIR MEAL. I WILL NOT GO BACK TO MIKE'S SEAFOOD AGAIN TILL HE EMPLOYEES SOME WAITERS AND WAITRESSES. FOR THE PRICES HE CHARGES YOU SHOULD BE WAITED ON AT THE TABLE AND PEOPLE WAITING TO PLACE AN ORDER SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED TO HANG OVER SOMEONES TABLE WHILE YOU ARE TRYING TO EAT.
The line is long because the food is escellant. The line to order at the counter obviously helps to hold price down and the restaurant is very sucsussful without customers with your "to good to eat here" attitude. Obviously you would be willing to pay more and go to somewhere in Marietta or ATL so you could wait to be seated, waited on at the table and pay more .

There are a few place if you are in Blairsville again that have very quick service. In case you are not familuar they are called "fast food" but again you have to wait in line.

Personally , I would highly recommend you go elsewhere with your attitude.

So, if I understand you correctly, we should all fill our vehicles with expensive gas, dirve all the way to Ellijay and support their restaurants. That, to me, is being very hard up for something to eat. Also, we should all support our local business's whenever possible. Have you any idea, the financial risks and the fortitude required to operate a business, especially during these difficult economic times? In time, maybe you and others who think like you will be able to sit around and wonder why we don't have any restaurants in Blairsville. Bon appe'tite
I would sure like to know where you can go in Ellijay for better Seafood.

You should give it a try, long lines mean good food and prices,

At Red Lobster ( in Canton or Cartersville 5o miles a way) you have to wait and get frozen seafood.

Personally, I can eait in line

Of course , you could alleays drive to Ellijay and go through the Drive through at Capt D's

Now if the original poster wanted to start a boycott against Local government I would join.
So how does one go about boycotting local government??
we have to pay our taxes or lose our homes or go to debtors jail.
boycotting means not using the services of the government. We could refuse to use the park, visit the library, go to school, not drive on the roads or have any thing to do with the government. We could dump our trash in the courthouse parking lot at midnight when all the teens have been chased out of town.
There are many ways of refusing to use government services. we could refuse to take government grants with strings attached, we could refuse to register to vote, we could refuse to serve on juries, we could refuse to pay attention to local ordinances, we could refuse tags for our cars, wait, if we don;t drive on the roads we don't need cars.
I'm getting really depressed just thinking of all the government we are forced to use.
THERE IS TOO MUCH GOVERNMENT IN OUR LIVES!!! so maybe if I just use the government services I want to use maybe this would solve my dilemmas. But then this means I gotta pay for all those services I don't use. Maybe the government can be funded by user fees thus eliminating all forms of property taxes.
Now if we had a commissioner with a brain this could be accomplished. Norm we need u badly in the commissioners office..
IM so confused, I thought this was a site about Mikes seafood. I had no idea this was a politacal issue, interesting how this has esculated to that. BOBBY get a life and FOCUS .

I believe we should boycott the Sawmill Restaurant until they provide free wifi, pay their servers each $1,000,000 a year, and raise the volume on the weather channel.

So what if they have great food, great service, and reasonable price in a very pleasant home town atmosphere, with courteous and friendly staff and clientele.

OK,
this is a blatant plug for one of my favorite businesses in Blairsville, but isn't that what this thread really is for ?

I'm gonna list another business to "boycott" tomorrow if I have time.

But, meanwhile, remember, despite its great food at great prices, and courteous and professional staff, demand free wifi when you're at the Sawmill Restaurant.

I just HATE those restaurants that don't provide free Wifi... that they FORCE me to pay attention to the person dining with me is deplorable! And the NOISE of everybody talking to each other... horrible. >;-)

I'd much rather go to Starbucks, pay $10 for coffee and a donut then flip out my iPhone to read Blairsville Topix. Oh wait... McD's and BK have free Wifi. Buh bye all you Sawmill... conversationalists!

My plug- Cooks, for either the Burger special or the Taco Salad special.(No free Wifi there either, dang it!)

You raise some great points.

But, for some reason, those cruel folks back at the office keep sending emails, correspondence, and contracts for me to handle even though I tell them I only want to smoke cigars and work on the cabin when I am in Blairsville.

Those bastar.s. Imagine, not letting me pretend I'm retired.

And I have a hard time linking to the company's "Cloud" computer programs, while I am in restaurants without wifi - but I'm not giving up breakfast regardless.

But hey, the food is great, the staff is wonderful, and prices are fair, so if you want to join me for breakfast or lunch, your company would be a fine addition, and I don't mind stopping work to converse with you.

I might even buy.

Mike's too busy for free WiFi. He needs people to eat and enjoy their food, then leave. WiFi people just hang out and take up table space for hours.

I love Mike's Seafood.

People who want to play with tech toys can go somewhere else.
Wish restaurants would ban cell phones!

Mike's ain't hurting for business - the lot is full at lunch and dinner, so how's that boycott working for you?

Reading all these lovely comments about who hates Mike's and who won't stand in line and who thinks Mike Gurley is an idiot leads me to point out the fact that Mike has run his business this way for many, many years. The man has been in business for running close to 20 years!!! It started as a seafood market (Blairsville Seafood) and he gradually made it to where he is today....successful!! His employees are loyal, his business is always booming and the place is constantly packed. Seems dear 'ol Mikey is pretty damn smart! Not to mention he's really a nice guy! I'm a satisfied customer. You don't like it, well, sorry for you.

I'm sure Mike will go broke without your business. Why not tell Mike? Why put it on TOPIX?
Oh, wait, you are who? Someone with an axe to grind? In other words, f'u.
