Correction....Instead of being on page 1 where the information was posted, You have to go to page 17 to get the time and notice.

The Time is 3:00pm.

This meeting is held to CONSIDER adoption of a Referendum Resolution to Reimpose a special one percent sales and use tax in Union County, Subject to referendum approval, and for other purposes.

Now WHY WOULD Lamar set a 3pm time for such a Important meeting such as this.

Maybe, BECAUSE HE KNOWS THAT THE HARD WORKING PEOPLE WON'T BE ABLE TO ATTEND! Some people have to actually work for a living.

There will be a Called Meeting of the Union County Commissioner on Thursday, August 29, 2013 at 3:00 p.m. at 65 Courthouse Street Blairsville, Georgia, in the Jury Assembly Room to consider adoption of a Referendum Resolution to reimpose a special one percent sales and use tax in Union County, subject to referendum approval, and for other purposes.

In terms of what projects will be proposed for SPLOST4, Commissioner Paris said that list is YET TO BE DETERMIND.

**********
How do the taxpayers know if they really want another 1 percent tax if they do not even know what projects they will be voting on?

HOW MANY YEARS ARE YOU GOING TO FOOLED?

SHOW UP AND TELL LAMAR NO!

Thank you for what you do.
Thankfully, you are like an oscillating fan. You rattle all the time and become nothing more than a hum that is never heard or given any attention by most people.
Fortunately for Union County, there are people like me. Just despite your ongoing ridiculousness, I will vote for SPLOST. Forget all the other benefits. When I step into that booth and vote yes, I will think of you.
TO ALL THE GREAT FOLKS OF UNION COUNTY: ACOG NOW HAS ONE VOTE FOR SPLOST. WHO WILL JOIN US?
Just a thought

Thank You. You are the best endorsement for voting No this community could ask for. Stupidity always shows through and in your case it beams.

Say no to ACOG, and YES TO SPLOST. That's yes to progress. Yes to lower property taxes. Yes to renters paying their fair share. Yes to tourists doing more for the county. The yes vote is the only choice for our great county.

Splost contributes to higher Property Taxes. All the debt generated by them is guaranteed by County Property Taxes also. If those bonds default, property taxes will go up steeply. Have you watched the financial news lately? Are you aware of what is going on in the world? TPTB are worried, and we are on the brink of war. Real Estate in trouble again also. Lamar has put this county in a very precarious position. Tax revenues are down and he wants to get approval to run up anther massive advance spending bond. This is a bad idea.

Also I want to say that I am not universally against Splost or taxes. They are necessary - and used wisely they actually do good. But the timing on this new Splost is bad. County has new parks, buildings etc and we are doing pretty good in infrastructure. With all the uncertainty out there in the world, we need to take a deep breath and hit the pause button on this new Splost. It won't kill us to wait a couple of years and see how things play out in the economy.

You are really wrong on renters.

Renters pay property taxes, it is in their rent. The Landlord pays the property taxes and also pays taxes on rental income. This is also passed on to the renter.

Follow this advice and support Fannin, Towns, the town of Murphy and other surrounding counties. How much sense does it make to refuse this money from visitors and tourist. A large chunk of this money is not even paid by Union County citizens. Further, each time you go to Towns, Fannin or most any other surrounding counties you will pay YOUR tax money to that county for their projects.

Linda Pittman's/AGOG's hatred for our elected officials and the good citizens that volunteer their time to make this a better community is the basis for this rant of hers.
She wants nothing more than to see the community struggle and she resents that our surrounding counties only wish they had the amenities the SPLOST affords Union County.

The people in this community are intelligent and know what is best for their community. Linda, I wish for you to find inner peace.

I don't believe this is about Ms Pittman. This is about fiscal responsibility. We don't need to allow for blank check advance funding at this time due to uncertainties out there. We haven't even paid off this current Splost that still has a five million dollar loan that Union County residents could be paying on until 2030. And if the economy goes down and the bond is defaulted on then property taxes go up to pay for it. Bad timing. We should wait. We shouldn't be in such a hurry. And whether Ms Pittman has a personal grudge against the commissioner or not does not change the fact that much of her information is the truth.

You certainly know how to spurt out the Bull Sh!t. It's a little runny though. The fact is the surrounding counties have lower taxes for everything. Real Estate and sales. All the playgrounds Paris has endowed us with have to be maintained, have utilities. people to man them and on and on. This money comes from our RE taxes and at some point we can no longer support these playgrounds for non working butts who have nothing in life to do but fiddle around. Of course Paris has never paid his fair share of the taxes therefore he could care less.

Why is it that when a person doesn't agree with the policy of a politician, it then becomes a "personal vendetta"?

Just because we challenge the elected officials that get their paychecks FROM OUR TAX DOLLARS doesn't mean there's a personal vendetta against them.

They work for us. THE VOTERS. The residents of this county called Union.

Like or not, Lamar works for Linda as well as every other elected official and employee in this county because she pays her taxes just like everyone else, and those taxes contribute to their paychecks.

THEREFORE as an elected official and a SERVANT of this county he also has the responsibility to not belittle a county resident. From when I have seen her speak to him she has always been polite, even and stuck to the facts when asking questions. He on the other hand talks down to her, calls her a malcontent or a misfit. That's unacceptable.

No matter which side you agree with, no matter which opinion you may have, the bottom line is Lamar is an elected official and his duty is to the residents of this county, EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM. Including the ones that don't agree with him.

That all said ... when was the last all of you that support the SPLOST and Lamar actually looked at the numbers, understood them, etc?

I'm all for differing opinions. This country has run for hundreds of years with differing opinions... through wars and the like ...

But lets make sure you take the time to realize that it's our right as an American to challenge our elected officials. Period.

I call bullsh!t - Linda is a pain/in/the/ass. It would be hard for any decent person to speak to her without wanting to knock some sense in her dizzy head! Linda has slandered people, lied about them, made up stories according to what she assumes based on half-truths coming from "documents."
