All you Republican and Tea Party folks that support this SPLOST are hypocrites.

Your political position is 'Smaller Government' and low taxes.

Then why don't you vote that way locally?

Union Government is growing. More facilities to maintain, more employees, more expense. Getting BIGGER.

You know what BIG GOVERNMENT does? Costs you forever.

You control it, why don't you vote your beliefs locally?

The only position that supports your political belief is NO to SPOLOST. NO to Big Government in Union County.

SO MANY PEOPLE vote in favor of all the SPLOST renewals because they mistakenly believe it will keep their property taxes lower. If they would only investigate HOW the SPLOST has been spent in the past, they'd discover how WRONG they are. Paris won't even disclose how this current renewal will be spent (to be determined, they say).

I'm assuming this is the list of what the renewed SPLOST will be for, right? I thought the community center was already paid?

No the Community Center was put under REVENUE BONDS

Here is what Lamar did with YOUR money AFTER the SPLOST passed.

Note we will be paying back over 3 million dollars in interest if this is not paid off. The interest is what Lamar told you he would be paying for the Club house.

Yes You are Right. This SPLOST 4 is for the new projects just a ditto of expenses that we heard we were going to be paid with the current SPLOST.

Idiot!

Has it occurred to you that, if for no other reason, we need the road maintenance? I don't even want to think about $6 million being levied against the homeowners.

Splost is a political tool to help Lamar to get re elected. Sure it pays for those things BUT we pay the extra to keep all these things up. BIG Government I dont like it. We can live with alot less without burdening the common tax payer down

I agree that the Commissioner did not use the money in the last SPLOST like he said he would. I wouldn't be against this so much if I thought he was going to be truthful about how the money was being spent. I am concerned about the bonds he uses to pay or these projects before they are purchased. This is bad timing to enter into debt this big.

* above is a link to the SPLOST 4 Referendum and Projects list. 10 page PDF.
Most concerning part to me is on page 2. EXCERPT:
"..which proposal, if approved by the voters, shall also constitute APPROVAL OF the issuance of general obligation DEBT of the County in an aggregate principal amount not to exceed $10,000,000..."
Voters need to study this.

Just finished reading the Splost 4 outline. All I can understnd is that there is a vague list of things the Commissioner wants to do, and he wants authorization to take out a 10 million dollar bond to advance fund it all. I'm against it because it is bad timing in this economy, and we simply don't have that much need here in the county. Life is pretty good, and it seems foolish to run up that much more county debt going into bad times. The second reason I am against it is that the project list is pretty vague I think we need a more detailed explanation of what the money is going to be used for. Exactly what it is going to be used for. Commissioner didn't do some of the bigger projects on the list witht he last money. Same projects on the list again. And I believe we are all owed an explanation for why we have to borrow $10 million to pay back the Development Authority 5 Million for the clubhouse when the last Splost was supposed to be paying for that. I honestly do not understand.

Thank YOU I am glad to see at least one person out there is finally looking at things as they really are.

You voted on the Club House to be paid with the last SPLOST.
That didn't happen.

You voted on a jail to be built that didn't happen.

You voted for Improvements to the Solid waste transfer Station that didn't happen.

You did not vote on a cannery was not on the referendum You got that.

You voted for $150,000 for improvements to the Horse Arena you got $595,000

You voted for $150,000 for Suches Community Center you got $409,000

You did not vote for the batting cages to be bought you got $126,000 and more expense and debt to pay for up keep.

You are not getting what you voted on and you NEVER WILL as Long as Lamar Paris is our Commission because RECREATION is more important. His wants ARE NOT THE COUNTY NEEDS!

VOTE NO TO SPLOST!!!!!!

DO you really want to see him borrow another $10,000,000 in advance to waste, Plus what is collected over the next 6 years?
