It is also an attention getter from elected officials, hence the furious backlash from those who support certain candidates who totally ignore even admitted quotes by said candidates.........

Chris Childers is scared that I am going to show up today at his auction.

I did ask to be paid in cash but Greg said some in 10 days ($4000,00 in 2 weeks after I hounded him) and another $3000.00 after the sheriffs office called Greg) He still owes me $7,250.00 plus expenses and interest. The contract said all monies in 10 days.

Greg has lied and lied about when I would get the rest. I have this all documented.

Chris Childers has been informed all along the way! He participated at every step including the first meeting, packing, picking it up and the auction. He listed the auction on HIS website and probably rented the building in Tate, Ga. for the auction.

I did not refuse to give him my new address last night as I said he could pay me in-person today. No need to wast a stamp. I believe this is just another delaying tactic.

Thanks for all your support!!!!!!!

Sounds like at least one of them is willing to work this thing out. Why not give it a try. All court will do is cost more money and cause many more issues than just working it out.
"Sounds like" is correct. Chris promised in July that I would get my balance the next day but I never did. He has been informed all the way and he and Greg are partners and Chris was there at every meeting and did part of the auction. This is a delaying tactic. I will be there in person so he could hand me a check and I told him I would leave. He says he will have me arrested. we'll see.

I told Greg that a check was fine within 2 weeks of my auction close on June 16. After an investigator from Pickens Co. called him I got a CHECK dated Aug. 17 for $3000. I am still owed $7250 plus expenses and costs.

While I struggle to pay bills, I counted on the sale of more than $60,000 worth of collectibles which they netted more than $20,000 from the auction. I have been paid $7000 and they owe $7250.

I have missed one trip to FLA. and my timeshare starts on the 20th of Oct. which I will miss. Last vacation-last October.

I have reported them to the Sec. of State licensing board, WSB, Clark Howard, Pickens Co. Sheriffs Dept, and these great blogs.

I am anxious to see how many others like me there are.

Thanks for your support!

Just Mike, I enjoy most of your post on Topix.

Topix should be a way to get past all the spin and get the truth out about local bossiness.

I totally agree with you that Topix IS a valid place to complain about a local business. "Amos" seems to forget that it was the attention generated in this forum that got the OP a reply from Chris. "Amos" is correct that a conversation should now take place offline between the parties, but Topix got the dialog going and will continue to be bad press for Childers until the issue is resolved.

I think the days are over for local business to hide and do customers any way they want to.

Topix can be more powerful in a small community than the city.

I hope Topix works on poor public servants!

maybe topix posting will cut down on the need to spray paint who you love, or now hate, on the rocks on the highways.

Update:

I went to pass out info. outside the gates of the auction bldg. and was quickly approached by 3 of Jasper PD's finest. They were all understanding and professional but said I was in violation of their unlawful assembly statute so they let me go with some good advise and I will have to get appropriate permissions which I will do everywhere they go.

Thanks to all for your support.

Childers had the cops there?
If you don't get your money, their name will be mud in Blairsville.
Keep this on top.

3 of Jasper's finest but no arrest!

It strengthened my resolve.

Thanks for the kind words. Maybe the paper will pick it up. I will look into that.

I think you are doing the right thing. I admire your resolve to get your money. Most folks just talk . You are willing to fight. If I get the chance to ask this guy about your money, I will.

I'll ask, too.

File a complaint in Union County with either the magistrate or talk to the DA. I have a friend who was ripped off my a company in Towns. Langley's office is checking into it for her.

I am one of the people that Mr Williams has accused. I will not air all if the information but mr Williams did ask that he be paid in cash and over a period if time..due to not wanting the money to show up...ie taxes, legal fees etc.
What Mr Williams has also failed to mention that I ask him for an address to send monies too...even though I was a contract employee and he has included me in his false accusations. He has refused to do . He will be paid all monies owed to him. I will not be accused of being involved in something...ie deals being made without my knowledge etc...he needs to tell the while story if he's Goin to tell it.
I did ask to be paid in cash, but after no returned phone calls 10 and 11 days after the auction (supposed to get some 10 days after the auction and the rest in 2 weeks. Is it BRAIN SURGERY for them to pay in cash and get a receipt? More lies.

There are no taxes on used collectibles and goods sold-only on the auctioneers' profits so another lie. I have and had no legal fees but I was "short selling" my house in these hard times and had a lein that had to be satisfied. WHY DO YOU THING I WAS SELLING COLLECTIBLES IN THIS ECONOMIC ENVIRONMENT!! Just more b.s. which I am sure the readers can see through.

He just asked me last night for my new address and than said not to contact him anymore. HUMMM!

He can use my old address which they have. I guess he has not heard of mail forwarding.

Chris Childers has received the same texts his brother Greg has recieved and even on July 22 that I would have my money the next day. More lies and all documented.

Judge for yourself. It is all documented via text.

Suggestion: Go to yahoo or elsewhere and set up a new email address just for use in this matter. Post it here and you just may hear from others with similar experiences.

Unlawful assembly statute? I'd like to see a copy of that.

I gotta ask, is there no Constitution is Jasper.

In most departments an officer would have been assigned to assure nobody interfered with your Constitutionally protected rights to expression.

Assembly has nothing to do with it. unless sufficient people are present to have an impact on the commercial transactions in the area, or interfere with the prescribed use of the facilities, there is no assembly.

One citizen, passing out pamphlets would seem to be exactly the kind of expression authorized and protected by the Constitution.

I am not suggesting you file a Section 1983, U.S. Code, and U.S. and/or state Constitutional law suit; but someone should let the officers know that they are not permitted to interfere with the peaceful non-violent expression of opinion.
