Final comment, I picked yours to respond to. I think it is amazing how many people on this forum write their own rules in life and use nothing as guidance except "self". I do not think you are a wimp and I hope I did not convey that. I liked how funny your post was. I find humor a very positive and attractive trait in all. Yes you should feel as you described. "Own"; one owns themselves, however, if they truly love someone they want them to be the best they can be and I think you and yours do that. Keeping someone in their place is not a characteristic of good manhood. When two people are on the same page (goals), manhood is upward and wonderful and womanhood is smiling all the time!

Not really sure which statement she is making, yet there are the facts - one of those statements applies to Laurel Wood. Its one of those tricky principles call elimination of alternatives. Sort of scientific actually - you simply keep whittling down the options until you get to the facts.

My guess is that she does believe, but simply is hypocritical and disobedient. OR does she really not believe on a subconcious level, but has been brainswashed her entire life and cannot change now - for that would upset everything she has ever learned about herself,a nd would create too much internal tension - so she lies even to herself, in order to protect the image she has of her life.

Curious situation I bet applies to many.

While Laurel Wood is very capable of defending herself, I would only say you are being overly critical of her and incredibly judgemental.

I'm not sure how you came to be in this century. However, I would suggest you go back to the 18th century where you can be with others like you. You can beat your wife if she speaks out of turn and no one will say a word. Have a safe trip.

Actually, the Apostle Paul was from quite a bit before the 18th Century. I suggest you go study your biblical history.

I also think you are a bit confused. I am certainly NOT the Apostle Paul, nor have I made any such claim. Why would Light claim to be darkness?

Why is it you attack me, when it is clearly Laurel Wood who either:

1) Blindly follows a Religion that teaches things so seemingly contrary to her nature and beliefs.

2) Proclaims the teachings of Christianity (as delivered in the Bible) which she simply stubbornly and disobediently refuses to follow for herself.

That is simply my observation, my Witness to the truth of things so to speak. Funny thing about truth. It has a way of being true, and it has a way of upsetting systems that are built upon lies.

Yes I agree. I was once a deacon;People would really be surprised what is actually discussed in those closed meetings. It is like everything else in this world, it is all about the greenbacks once that door is closed. Paid preachers can get a little testy when it comes to money issues and benefits that the church pays them. The very same church eventually split over mostly money. Once when I moved into a new community, I became involved in the youth bible study on Sunday. Back then their was this very popular youth ministry in which Youth took pledges for apledge drive for their cause which I believe was Food Ministry related. The lead girl approached me becase I was a marketer, and I volunteered to develop some "Pledge Cards" for distribution into the community. They were very good pledge cards, very persuasive.

Suddenly I was "Summoned" into the chapel offices. I was told in no uncertain terms that my participation was not welcome. I asked why, and the response I was given was that although this was a very affluent community, this Chapel had already determined exactly what they could get out of the Community and Church Members, and that it was a very scientific and precise program based upon available funds. Their problem was that this Teenage Fundraiser was threatening to become too popular and thereby was cutting into their cut of the loot.

MY problem, was that they were parading this great group of kids out week after week as evidence of their succesful godliness - and then intentionally setting the kids up for failure. It was all part of the marketing scam to separate people from their money.

Interestingly enough, the Youth Minister in question was also the same fellow I mentioned in another post, who was part of an investigation by the Boy Scouts into homosexual activity on a youth camping trip.

It is interesting that the fellow was later fired in disgrace after having been criminally charged with something so hush hush that the details have never been revealed fully.

It is interesting though... sort of like with American politics, even when people KNOW their is a problem, the problem is so big that everyone seems paralyzed from being able to do anything. Such is the Church - they are all divided, squabbling little vermin fighting to feed on the flock.

It has become as at it is written:

Isaiah 56:11 ~ Yea, they are greedy dogs which can never have enough, and they are shepherds that cannot understand: they all look to their own way, every one for his gain, from his quarter.

Great post. Well articulated, and your opinion is as creditable as mine.

The problem is that God, Allah, or whatever name we want to assign the Supreme Being gave us the ability to rationally think.

To take every single word of the Bible literally, as each and every word is the indisputable word of God, conflicts with even the tattered remnants of rational thought.

That's why it's called the Christian Taliban - same surrender of personal responsibility to a religious leader who'll be happy to tell you what the Bible, or the Koran demands.

Here's some examples;

Offering a defective animal sacrifice (Deut. 17:1)

Obviously we should be offering up nondefective animal sacrifices.

No sacrifices - Go to Hell.

Revelation 21:27 simply says that anyone who practices abomination will not enter Heaven.

Uh oh ... Better read on.

Deuteronomy.22:5.
The woman shall not wear that which pertaineth unto a man, neither shall a man put on a woman's garment:for all that do so are abomination unto the LORD thy God.

Informed you are a wild thang for sure! All have sinned and fell short of the glory of God, yep I am guilty of many of your things listed. God knows all about me and I am going to name a few things I have partaken in lately: Animal sacrifice; killed two deer by vehicle, I wear pants and jeans sometimes, I have worn hot pants, bikinis (in my day)now a litte more covered. I just can't do grass, sorry. Had a hamburger last night, no hare though ever, had partridge, quail and duck last week, can't do shrimp anymore throat closes up, chicken tonight, maybe turkey burger tomorrow. I did go on all fours once when I was very sick, tried my best to honor parents, have not done adultry yet but have lusted in heart and mind. I have not taken part in a stoning but one was planned at a job once.

Haven't we all.

Quarter pounders, steak and shake burgers, and bacon and eggs are the staples of life.

Thankfully I don't even like lobster or shrimp, so maybe I have a chance.

I was stoned several times when I was young and full of youthful exuberance, but I think they are talking about a different kind of stoned.

That's why you have to read the whole Bible. The Old Testament is a history and background of the foundation of the world. People used to have to sacrifice animals for their sins to be forgiven, but then Jesus came and died on the cross once and for all for any sin that anyone could ever commit, so we no longer have to sacrifice animals.

Also in the New Testament, God says that we are allowed to eat any food, even that which was considered unclean before. I don't think the Bible ever said to not eat cattle, even in the OT.
BTW, where do you find those Thanksgiving turkeys that "creep on all four"? My kids really like the drumsticks, and a turkey with four legs would be good to have.
