As if a man can explain it. Not all men can. Some yes I am sure can. BUT NOT ALL. I for one believe IN the WORD OF GOD, but I also believe that he would want us to speak up for ourselves also,I am not one to stand in a corner to be seen and not heard. If I have something to say and I feel as if I am being lead to say. I am gonna say it.

Let me share a story. I wanted to visit a local church. The pre-recorded telephone message stated that service times were at 9 am & 10:30 am. I decided to go to the 9 am service, but when I arrived there was no service. When I asked why, it was explained to me that the first service had been discontinued due to poor attendance.
As we were talking, one of the "deacons" started shouting about, "The Dome on the Hill." "A dome on the hill, brother! I tell you it's been prophesied that we're going to have a dome on the hill! It's a dome on the hill that the Lord wants us to build!" And the price tag for this "Dome on the Hill" was enormous. This congregation was closing services because they couldn't attract the people - and the Lord was supposedly telling them that if they had a better, fancier, bigger building - then THAT would attract the people. According to the shepherds of this flock, the Lord was saying, "Gather up the tithes and build a bigger building…. And they will come!"
It is not the buildings that attract the lost. It is gentle words of kindness, and actions of love. Jesus didn't have a building. He took his love and kindnesses to the world.
Many shepherds, as stewards, gather the tithe of the Lord to build endless buildings (and feed themselves). They are poor stewards in that they should have built foundations in the hearts of men instead. They have lost the path of love, and have become blind.
Again I say to search the scriptures of Isaiah, Jeremiah and Ezekiel, if you would see the nature of these stewards:
• Isaiah 56: 11,12
• Jeremiah 23:1-4; Jeremiah 23: 16-22
• Ezekiel 34: 1-10
Harmony Grove has suspended it's first service.

Is what was quoted the Word of God? You'll base you behavior on a feeling rather than the Word of God? While I may not understand why the Word of God says what it says, I always choose It over my feelings.

Let's see as a modern woman, you are taught that you are equal to man in every way. You work and earn your own money. You go to church, and pay your tithes. Yet you are not able to express your opinion or concerns; except at home with your husband. But you can at anytime come and clean, vacuum ,and bake items for various reasons for the church. Now this seems like a raw deal to me. I really don't see to many modern women subjecting their self to anyone. If I give my money to anything, I would definitely express my opinion.
You are entitled to the opinion you have. When a man and a woman are on the same page at home and church (a loving relationship with good communication) they do support their home in all the ways you mentioned, he likes to enhance the building with the work of his hands. The woman may do many of the things you mentioned. Yes they tithe. None of these things are for kudos but labors of love. I knew when I became a member I had voting rights that was special to me. I have never seen a time when I needed to speak. I will tell you I have seen women speak out when they truly should not have and I have seen women's mouths run people off. Our women's group presented to the chairman of the deacons a list of small things we felt would make the church look pretty (that's a woman) and everyone in the church got involved. It was all voted on and became reality. That led to the most beautiful renovation and more than they asked for and every man, woman and child worked. A woman that is secure in her own skin does not always have to be vocal but can support and work from afar as you say.

<quoted text>From my experiences , women usually keep most churches going. They are always cleaning, cooking entertaining the troops and so on. Why would they not be included in the business end of running the church? Yes I know what the Bible says about it. Just a little curious, do women really subject their selves to men... really in their heart?
From a Biblical and a personal side yes they do. You can love someone in every way and want the best for them, it works best when that is the man and the woman's desire. Being on the same page is a modern way of putting it. Observing how one acts in all ways even in church is a warning sign of how the marriage is going to be while dating. As you know there are warning signs and many do not heed them BEFORE! A good sense of humor is very effective but never get tickled in church believe me I have found it hard to stop over the years.

Let me repeat:

1 Corinthians 14:34,35 - "Let your women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but they are commanded to be under obedience as also saith the law. And if they will learn any thing, let them ask their husbands at home: for it is a shame for women to speak in the church."

1 Timothy 2:11,12 - "Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection. But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence."

It is either THE WORD OF GOD, or it is not. It seems that your position is that you are openly in defiance of God, and will do as you please.

And it was pretty clear. It wasn't mumbled or confusing. There was no real wiggle room for interpretation.

Paul the Apostle has given you your marching orders... TO BE SILENT AND TO KNOW YOUR PLACE

I am writing this on a borrowed lap-top from my hospital bed at Union General. I showed your post and others on this thread to my wife in a bold yet teasing manner. She took violent exceptinon to both your post and my teasing.

The doctors were able to sucessfully remove the lap-top from ...well..let's just say an area where I would not normally carry my lap-top. They did manage to break the screen in the removal process but, my insurance will reimburse me for a new one. The doctor says I should be walking normally in just a few days. Also, they say the name DELL, which is imbedded in the affected area should fade in a few weeks.

Even though my wife is sorry for the incident, she remains angry and amazed that any woman would submit to such archaic teachings. She is more aligned with that which Lucy and Turniptown posted. I totally agree with her although it is, unfortunately for me, too little , too late.

It's too bad you are so "wimpy". Maybe you should try working out or get yourself some of those manhood-in-a-bottle pills you see advertised on tv. Boost you testosterone and your life might improve.

Good luck, little man!

I liked my Dell computers until I read what happened to you and your hospital visit. The sharp toes of my heels work pretty well on wimpy men. We now know your wife wears the pants around your home. Take more "B" vitamins along with all the other enhancement stuff.

Letter is/was on the church's website. Pastor was heavy into the Southern Baptist Convention and its entities. In most Baptist churches the pastor can be the moderator at business meetings (conference). In my church women do not speak unless is is an open discussion and the church goes out of conference only for the discussion then back in for the rest of the session. A pastor can give his opinion about who is a good candidate for a deacon but the deacon board usually acts on this. There is an ordination service in which several pastors can speak and take part as they charge the deacon(s) and wives.
Keep in mind some Baptist churches have eased so many rules it no longer resembles a Baptist church.

Why does your wife go to church then? Does she not believe the Bible is the WORD OF GOD? If she doesn't believe it, then why does she even go to a church, follow a religion that has the Bible as it's anchoring rock of philosophy? It is not like the Bible is a minor side-addendum to the religion of Christianity. It is according to Christianity - THE Word of God.

And if she does believe the Bible is the true and infallible, authoritative WORD OF GOD - are you saying she is disobedient to God?

And what have we learned about you? That your mouth continually runs - as your preach about how others should do what you do not?

LET ME REPEAT, FOR THE WORD WAS FOR WOMEN AT ALL TIMES, YES EVEN ON THE INTERNET ->

" Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection. But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence. For Adam was first formed, then Eve."

And yet here you are speaking and teaching publicly (as seems a thing you do continually), correcting others, including men, and in doing so you openly do not follow the teachings of your own religion.

PAUL THE APOSTLE HAS SAID TO "BE SILENT". WHY DO YOU NOT FOLLOW THE WORD OF GOD ACCORDING TO PAUL THE APOSTLE?

It is not as if I call you to follow rules that others have made, or to follow the rules of a different religion.

Only to not be as a hypocrit - and to follow that religion which you yourself proclaim.
