Are there city or county ordinance laws that require a homeowner to keep property in good repair? Driving through the county, I've noticed gorgeous beautifully maintained spaces next to some... not so well maintained.

Go back to where you came from or find a place that has zoning.
We don't want it. You sound like my idiot half timer neighbor who shows up in the spring and wants to turn the neighborhood into one just like where he lived in Florida! Can't wait for winter when the idiot leaves and goes home with his little white dog that pees on my trees!

There is an ordinance in the city limits about junk in yards and maybe disrepair. It is seldom enforced and almost never enforced on someone with even a little clout. There is a no junk yard ordinance that was passed county wide several years ago so new new junk yards would open. That's about it. I moved here partly to get away from this kind of thinking. If a man owns his property he should have the right to do as he pleases with and and most everyone here thinks the same way. If you like zoning...then stay in the city where you need them to keep people from suing and killing each other or buy in a subdivision where self imposed rules exist, we have many of them here. Most people here mind their own and if they wish to keep their place nice they do so and don't worry about their neighbor. Sure we would all like to see some places nicer but that means giving up things we value more.

I agree. I like my Singlewide Mobile Home just fine, with my project cars on blocks. I like Freedom, not other people trying to regulate my Freedom away from me. The only thing I do is keep my Pitbull from barking at night, so he doesn’t bother my good neighbors.

Everybody says it's the locals that are messy. In my neck of the woods, we have a few Floridians who moved in next door, and their place looks horrible... Junk cars everywhere. At least they are nice people. I guess it's better to have that than irritating a-holes who whine about everything and live in McMansions...

Move over. I'm packing up my car parts business today and changing my address to Union County. Stop by.

Awesome! Blairsville needs a good used auto parts junkyard much much MUCH more than it needs another vacation home or retired couple from the city. I am completely serious and most here would agree.

Hey, I'd love a good junkyard. There's gold in spare parts.

We's a gonna trick you ole grumpy ones. Were gonna take down the sign that says junk yard this way and replace it with one that says pink flamingo farm this way. We is gonna put up another one that says flarda gatherin this way, but hit's gonna lead yuns all to a creek where we will be handing out soap han washcloths. Use of tham will be mandatory. Brown socks or sandals that go up higher than the ankle will be confiscated.
