Well then if that's true, I would say the driver had a weak lawyer and the statute was misapplied. It wouldn't be the first time the state got away with something. And no, I wouldn't vote for you. I'm not registered to vote in Winder or Dahlonega.

true to my word, whiskey, there is an article in the gainesville times (pull it up on the computer if you don't subscribe) on this case...it is still being investigated, and the D.A. in lumpkin hasn't made any decisions on charges, if any, in the case...the family has an attorney...he will be helpful for civil charges...i hope all involved will find peace.

Can we start another topic about these statues? I hate seeing this thread at the top when we all know 2 families are hurting because of the accident. Lulu, I know you like to go at it, but I also know you have a heart, it comes out sometimes, lol. Can we start another thread and let this one go?

That's the article.

Many if onlys - if only those crotch rockets hadn't sped by. If only Mr BigOnes hadn't tried to catch them. If only the GSP hadn't been there. If only the GSP had turned that much quicker or that much slower. If onle Mr BigOnes hadn't been speeding. If only. We could fill the world with if onlys.

and yet, according to Gainesville Times
he and his sister are planning to file suit against the state.

Quote from Gainesvilletimes.com :
"Teague’s son and daughter have retained a private attorney to pursue possible compensation from the state for their loss."

Yes because if they get money their dad will come back. They want nothing to do with him when he is alive states another poster, but will file suit against a cop doing his job. WOW!!! There was talks about a law suit before their dad was buried and yes by the son! SAD SAD SAD

What is the purpose of the money? Are the crotchrockets he was chaising involved or just the trooper doing his job.

my husband was up there that day...he rides a rocket (ha!, bet y'all all thought i was just speaking off the top of my head), spoke with some of the people that saw the rockets...vague discription, mostly shock response...i only "know from hearsay" from him...the rocket instigated the whole event by speeding(which its like a racetrack up there on sunny, warm weekends) and the GSP was doing his job...as an uninvolved observer, that is my opinion, i'm sure y'all have your opinion also, and the rocket racers will come down on my head, but its nothing that hasne't happened before...mr. GSP wa doing what we pay him to do...keep our roads safe...this was a TRAGIC ACCIDENT...neither side wins.

What a waste of tax payer's money. We'll be paying for the officer's defense when he was following his job description.

This thread will be interesting for the defense attorney. I hope he reads it, because it is obvious Mr. Teague was hot dogging. The impact into the trooper's vehicle will determine the speed of the motorcycle.

No one will win this case.

Makes YOU sick??? None of your loved ones died in this accident , did they? Members of Mr. Teague's family are doing what THEY think is right, and are acting within their legal rights. If that makes you sick, then you an alot of others need to get legislation passed that changes that particular Georgia LAW.
Good luck in your pursuits to have the peoples laws changed because it makesYOU sick. It's people like you that make all of us sick.

Nobody cares about YOUR OPINION with regards to this matter and all your words of wisdom won't change what will happen. This thread has no purpose but to inflame.

There is alot of waste of "taxpayers money", but finding the truth out is not one of them. I am sure everyone here is grateful to you,Mr. Fly Killer, for your insiteful OPINION of what happened and your vast knowledge of GSP SOP's(standard operating procedures) when it come to chasing suspected violaters of the law.
You watch too much TV.(CSI I suppose)

We wonder why our taxes are so high.

Please tell me what is money going to do?

Number 1 reason I spend time with my family; I never know when they will be gone.

Do not tell me I have not been through it, I have, and I did not go after money.

It's not about money.(although sometimes it is the ONLY satisfaction/justice you can get). I don't think anyone said you"have not been through it", and that was your decision "not to go after money." That was your RIGHT to do what you wanted to within the LAW.
It is this other person's right to sue if they wish. That is within their LEGAL RIGHTS to do as they see fit, the same as you did as you saw fit.
Do you want to deny them the same right that was given you?
Believe it or not, there are other people in the United States that have the same rights as you do.
The difference is they choose a different path than you.
Those that protect us here are appreciated for their service to our community and do a good job. It does not mean they don't make mistakes like the rest of us are prone to do on occasion. This whole issue will run it's course and a decision will be made as to the innocence or fault of those concerned. This IS the process that is followed by LAW.
If you don't like it, change it. Don't whine on the internet about how YOU did things different and critize others about how they handle their situation. America is all about the FREEDOM to do as you see fit as long as you follow the LAW.
You don't like it? LIVE WITH IT,CHANGE IT or LEAVE IT. I am pretty sure those are your choices. Good Luck.
