They buy milk so if the electricity goes out and they have an electric stove and can't cook they can at least have cereal and milk or leftover cornbread and milk, or the kids can have milk to drink. And they don't have to worry about it spoiling when it's this cold because you can just set it outside on the porch for a little while and it will be ice cold.

Does anyone know how the roads are this morning? We don't have any snow, but there could be some ice on the roads if the rain froze before the wind dried it up. I guess I will have to leave a little early for work so I can drive a little slower.

My dad told a story about when it was so cold that Lake Chatuge froze over. A policeman was chasing someone and the guy drove his car across the lake to try to get away but the policeman followed him and they both made it across without breaking through the ice. That was probably in the 1960s.

I agree people buy milk for cereal, bread for sandwiches (peanut butter) and comfort snacks like popcorn etc. At Unicoi State Park its sunny, temp 15 degrees this a.m., light snow, there was some patches of ice, winds breezy but not bad. The story about Lake Chatuge was serious and also funny.

I would venture to guess that the policeman was Sam Cannup who was the Hiawassee policeman for several years back then.

90 percent of the morons that panic and buy up all the milk dont cook anyways. Their three meals a day consist of whatever their fat a##es get in the drive thru. There are better means but they arent smart enough to think of better options when power goes out.
