To be able to call and ask to speak to scott and not being lied to and told hes not there when he was! I can understand maybe once but i have and know other people who have called 3 times in a day ! And not even been told i could leave my name and number ! It wouldnt have done any good cause my last name wasnt a certain name. Very unfair. They only friends with the ppl that had money. This is why ppl have moved from Blairsville.!!!!!! Ive ALREADY talked to Mack in the last more than i have Scott in the last 12 years. And those deputys ???? START TREATING PEOPLE WITH RESPECT!!! an ppl wonder why we didnt vote for him??? There is stuff that ppl hasnt told the public about scott and shertiff dept and prob never will since he is leaving!!!!

We already have a good department.
I don't think the idiots who post here have a clue what a friendly sheriff department is. They aren't suppose to be "friendly." There job is protecting the community from harm, fighting crime, and dealing with law enforcement issues.

Calling and speaking directly to a sheriff is the stupiest comment I've ever heard.

Have you all lived in a hole all your life!
This isn't Mayberry.

Scott will prevail and do well away from this hick town.

On another note: I live on a street where the owner moved out and left the home to her 18 y/o whacked out kid and his druggie friends. This is a nice small group of retired well-heeled people.
I went to the sheriff and asked what we needed to do about the kids who are racing up and down the road, partying until 4 a.m. using drugs, stealing, and more.

Simply put, the residents are to call and report when they need help. The idiots won't do it!
They'd rather bitch about the problem, then complain the sheriff isn't doing enough.

How in the hell can the sheriff do enough if no one is reporting problems? The officers are mind readers and they need to have reports from the residents before they can do anything.

Well it may stupid but the biggest percentage of voters thought it was important. Now Scott can sit at home and not call anyone. How do you fight crime when you don't even take a report of it. Your one dumb nut. Way to go Mack. Now do the job. You can start at the courthouse.

Calling and speaking directly to a sheriff is the stupidest comment you've ever heard....? Then the very next post you make adding to that is....'You went to the Sheriff'!

Well, aren't you just special? That was one of the campaign's main topics and promises of accountability and approachability if your memory lapsed. The community was rife with people who could not get in touch with the present Sheriff...unless of course their name was 'important' to him ( as yours apparently was ).

You really do need to get over your bosom buddy's future and maybe concentrate on just being a regular citizen like most of us have done for the last 12 years and accept the fact you're not so speacial in the overall scheme of things anymore.

Like a friend of mine said Mac has probably forgot more about law enforcement than Stephens ever knew. Secondly this Sheriff's Department is anything but a "Good Department", and you know what I mean! I wish Stephens the best but I don't expect him to be competitive when it comes to getting another job in law enforcement unless a friend hires him.

You really sound like a dufus and in reality you are the one who has lived in a hole all their life! Civil servants aren't supposed to be rude they are supposed to be curteous and friendly. If you want mean Deputies move to a BIG city. This may not me Mayberry but it is sure alot closer to Mayberry than it is Atlanta.

In closing the people do have a right to speak to the Sheriff or at least an Officer if they feel the situation warrants it. I personally have called to speak with Stephens and no call back. No one offered to have someone else answer my question. No one was curteous enough to give me a cell number or tell me when to call back. You do understand what I am saying don't you DUFUS!

Please crawl on your belly back into that hole you slithered out of and stop acting so dumb. Oh you said it wasn't an act, now that's funny!

I've had several dealings with the SO, (NONE AS A SUSPECT) I found the deputies to be unprofessional, grossly incompetent, and very condescending. Having spent 32 years in a large metropolitan police dept I knew better than to give them a little advise. However when I asked why they were not dusting the point of entry or any other places inside the house for fingerprints, right away they copped an attitude made every excuse why they wouldn't process the scene. I have a strong feeling all that's going to change now that Mack is in charge.

Time will tell, but I don't anticipate any changes with Mack at the helm. The county will gain more tax dollars as the officers are instructed to issue more citations. I'm afraid people are in for a rude awakening.

The officers have always been polite when I've needed help or wanted to discuss an issue. Unfortunately, many move-ins have an attitude to begin with and that is where the problem starts. I've had idiots tell me that their car was towed off a roadway only because they had Florida plates. Of course, they failed to mention the vehicle had broken down and they walked away from it expecting to find it there a day later. Then the move-in who called 911 because some cattle got loose and were eating his wife's plants. The stupidity list goes on and on.

I'm just waiting to see which one of the Mack supporters B****es the loudest and hardest when he catches one of them doing the things that they are use to doing before he was elected.

I want to see the Stephens supporters cry because they get caught doing what they did before he was voted out and are held accountable now.

Rank and file officers dusting for prints? I don't know any that are qualified to dust prints. If you really have any experience you know dang good and well finger prints are all show and no go. What are you going to compare them too? Dna is the way its done now.......... finger prints are obsolete.

Really? Mayberry? Hick own? If it is such a hick town why are you here? They are not suppose to be friendly? Just protect the community? Last I checked it is to PROTECT and SERVE not PROTECT. Part of protection is making people feel safe, thus getting out there making sure people know your friendly. If the cops in this town wasn't such ass holes AKA not friendly how they suppose to be, how do they make people trust them? How do they allow people to report things if there ass holes? they don't It is PROTECT & SERVE. Ever heard of a welfare check? That's not protecting it from "Crime, and law enforcement issues" Ever needed a cop at a car wreck? That is not a law enforcement issue really. They need to be there , the duty of a cop goes above and beyond arresting people and writing tickets. Get a clue, If you don't like this "hick town" move, get off our hick town forum! Oh P.S. If Stevens would do better out of this hick town you think that he would have left an election season or 2 ago? Didnt think so.
