Just an FYI. The high school does, in fact randomly drug test students. However, I'm not sure how I feel about this. A part of me feels like it's a violation of privacy for the students and that it should ultimately be up to the parents to say whether or not they want to subject their child to a drug test. Another part of me understands that it could detect a potential for drug abuse before the child is too far down the road of addiction. But, Not everyone who takes a hit of marijuana ends up an addict.
I respect that. I just do not want my kids wrapped up in it. They have and had a choice not to be because they came from a clean home and social scene unlike me. However, they become their own person and make life decisions on their own before they are actually old enough to comprehend the damages that happen to them. I am not a saint. I cuss, I can fuss and be really mentally unhealthy for myself, but I can not say that taking drugs caused that. Being brought up in a family that dealt in and used made me a very insecure person. Being judged because I did not want to participate and accept the drug scene made me degraded from not only people who were suppose to encourage me to grow up and be responsible and independant, what I am saying is that there are the money makers in the drug industry who either profit off of children and adults or there are the users who do not provide their children because pot comes first or another choice of drug. How many kids that smoked pot whom I went to school with still do, more than didn't. I think if you catch it before it goes so far out of control to be dependant on it, you can live a healthier life. I am not afraid of death myself. God owns my soul and that is something no one here on earth can touch. The drug world will not take me, Jesus will. I would wish any child would choose Jesus over drugs. Not all do. The worst feeling is knowing that drug addicts are affiliated with church. I am glad I belong to the Lord and not a church. Drug test the kids and become an industry of working class people who are productive in their lives.

Thanks, ex-addict! Aren't you a big boy, now, that you kicked the habit. First of all, like most reformed addicts, you expect applause for the rest of your sober years because you kicked a bad habit. Afterall, YOU were the one who made the bad decision -- no one did it to you. Stay clean and be a part of the real world without having to have recognition for the rest of your life.

Not funny. You can make all the fun you want but you aren't cute. I have friends that I don't even know anymore because of drugs. It isn't something for you people on here to joke about.

So now it is about who is and who aint? Seriously. There's a difference in self medicating, recreational and prescription. Anyone can become an addict and it does not matter who you are. Pain is something people generally do not tolerate well. Those who do, become recreational users doing it just because they want a high or low. Like I said, I took the whole damn bottle at once. Or enough to knock me out. You can obviously tell who are recreational, self medicating and prescribed users and what for. I, myself will not worry for the list of dealers or users. I am of enough sound mind to steer away from those who are doing it for profit or for recreational use. Half of the people who are, I have met through my parent. I am not bragging either. That is what is disgusting. People who run from that kind, are not disgusting. They are smart and for the most part hated by those who do sell, use or both. No surprise. I have a tendancy to back away from people I know have the problem because usually they are smart enough not to start like myself.

I know if some were prescribed, there would be alot more calm in the world. If some didn't choose to do recreational, there would be a lot less mean people and the jails wouldn't need so much space to fill. Even the city, county and state profit the most off of those.

It is going to take a cultural change at the highschool level, and in the community. There is a word that is associated with something totally uncool.

Definition: An Informer
I think what has to happen is that "Snitching" on drug dealers has to become the "Cool" thing to do.
Drug Dealers are the ones that created hte definition for snitching. They made it something bad. Than needs to be reversed. The real truth about Drug Dealers needs to be promoted. The destroyed lives needs to be exposed. A NEW definition of Snitch needs to be promoted, that of a person who cares, who is brave, who isn't afraid to challenge people who are destroying their community, or their friends, younger brothers or sisters etc.
It's cool to snitch on Drug Dealers. It's the right thing to do. But it isn't for cowards. It takes guts.
MV you are so out of touch, as usual. Snitch is a jailhouse term and a term that originated in the UK many decades ago. Drug dealers didn't make up the term. Furthermore, a snitch dies young.

I hate people who snitch and tattle. But, that is something you enjoy doing; you like to expose as many things as you can about people while you sit behind your f'king computer and never show your face. When someone calls you on something, you threaten to sue them.

Good luck in turning the tides with kids. It won't happen any time soon. It is LE and the government that turns a blind eye to drug dealing, manufacturing, and trafficing.

Obviously, I was not referring to UC Voter :) Because cowards don't count. Cowards are small people. They fear what other people think of them. They don't want anyone to label them "uncool". They say things behind your back when no one is watching, or post anonymously while talking tough. These are the traits of a coward.
They are AFRAID to do the right thing out of fear of the consequences. Don't be like UC Voter. Be Brave! Snitch on a local drug dealer today.
That next kid they hook may be your baby sister, your little brother, or your friend. To Snitch is to shine a light on evil. May your flames burn brightly :)

Sure snitch. It might be your kid, baby sitter, brother, sister, family, or someone you love who gets beat up, run off the road, or killed because they didn't mind their own business. You are giving some dangerous advice, but that's nothing new. Kids know the 411 about snitching and won't listen to your advice. It is a coward who uses! Kids who don't use should move right along and keep their nose clean, literally.

I am disappointed that fighting drugs by going after the dealers is not receiving more attention and support. Not enough being done. Disgraceful.
This guy has no clue and you can tell has never actually seen the real deal. There will always be dealers as long as theres a demand. Just like establishments will always serve fast food to the masses. Remember more people die from OBESITY related deaths a year then all drug related deaths. Plus what the heck are we classifying as a drug anymore. The only thing Disgraceful about this thread is that Mountain Voice thinks he has a clue. Never actually seen any dirt. So are Budweiser and Coor delivery drivers evil? Prohibition has failed us once again and ignorance and propaganda has shown its ugly head one more time.

the ex-drinker, drug addict or born again Christian are the worst. Good for you, you cleaned up your life. Leave mine alone, I am fine with it.

Mountain Voice, you have no idea. Playing video games in Mom's basement didn't educate you much. Who you gonna snitch to, the 8 cops they just busted in Atlanta. Turn in the dealers will and have had repercussions. Most don't want to deal with that. Fear for my life or my family would not be better for me.

Get off Topix and see a psychiatrist, you got problems that are leading you to drugs and alcohol.

I find it interesting what causes some people to respond, and suddenly they feel the need to jump up and start barking - like a little chihuahua type dog.
Makes you wonder why they identify with a certain topic.
I say that anyone that knows of a Drug Dealer, and doesn't Snitch on them, is ultimately just as bad as the Dealer themselves. You don't beat evil by ignoring it. You fight it head on. And you keep fighting it. Do you ever possibly "totally eliminate it" forever. No. But you win little periods of peace. Good vs evil blah blah blah. It's a repeating story that will go on forever. But you fight the battles that need fighting - when they need fighting. And sometimes you get a rest from a job well done.
Snitching on Drug Dealers is as Cool as it gets. It takes guts. But it also takes a bit of common sense. Do it cautiously - but do it.
PS... "Lakehouse Owner" I am requesting that you issue an apology and a retraction regarding your statement "see a psychiatrist, you got problems that are leading you to drugs and alcohol". I am asking you do so here on this thread, in direct response to this post, and so that it is identifiable as sincere I would request you identify yourself, and in an "editorial fashion" explain exactly what facts you had that made you to make that statement, and correct the perception you have created that I am an alcoholic or drug addict that needs psyciatric counseling as a result.

I've seen it over and over again here and I just cant wrap my head around it. WHY can't some people spell and use words in their right context? It just amazes me. I have a 3rd grader who at least knows the difference between "hear" and "here". These words aren't interchangeable! Did you mean "think" or were you expressing gratitude? If the latter, that doesn't make very much sense. Please, just try next time. You would be amazed at how much more coherent you can sound. "Fix" this grammar problem that you have. There are tutors out there who work for free.
