Thank you Law for your post. You are right. As our legal organ, they have a higher responsibility than the average rag. Don't know why you got all those negative icons on your post but don't let that discourage you.
I am sure you and I would not see things eye to eye on every subject but it is nice to see a post that has had some actual thought put into it.
Thanks for your kind remarks.

I have found that in more cases than not the negative icons normally have absolutely nothing to do with the content of a post, but rather a general disdain for individual personas, and intending to express mean-spirited displays irrespective of content.

The upside of course is you know you have received the attention of those who should, and need to hear the message, but have neither the courage nor wherewithal to respond in a reasonable and responsible manner.

So, with that said, kinda a win-win in my view.

I too, find your posts to be interesting, informative, and am in agreement in most cases.

Well here we go again, did you see the front page news on the July 4, 2012 edition? Why is the union county clerks training article breaking news? In reading the article is seems to be a ploy for the current judge to publish a campaign advertisement . In the article it states basically his qualification that he has said in his campaign ads in NGN. It seems to me that this is a bias campaign ad to look like front page news. I think not. SHAME ON YOU DUNCAN , or should we call you Norm Cooper. Is it only that it is an election year that it is front page.
If my memory serves me correct, the NGN did an article last year on this same training class and there was a picture of the people who attended the class, and it was not front page new.
WE NEED TO FIND A REAL LEGAL ORGAN
Naw, as I stated in an earlier post, under the “new” unimproved management I now receive my paper a day later. Usually on Thursday now. Old(er)“News” by then.

And yes-same ole, same ole. Every year. Free campaign advertisement for incumbents, Sheriff, Commissioner, etc. disguised as “public interests stories.”

Reckon how long the Commissioner will continue upon his free soapbox to make up questions to answer and promote his superiority and the absolute necessity to be re-elected.

Kinda of an insult to the intelligence of the entire community; don’t you think??

Come November 2012 you can allow those who take advantage of it to continue. OR, you can REPLACE them and see what others may be willing to provide in the way of fair responsive representation.

Nothing ventured, nothing gained

What would you consider a good limit? 4 years .. 8 .. 12?

I am not against limitations myself. Do you think those limitations should be only for the commissioner or for all elected officials? I myself think all elected officials should face limitations ... but what does a hillbilly know?

ALL elected officials. At all levels. gives a chance to more people to help shape a particular office/area. Keeps some shenanigans and high rates of pay lower.

I was once told that term limits were in place to keep "career politicians" moving. A person was to come in, serve their term and do their bit for society, then move on. I think that helps keep a certain position from becoming stagnant with no new ideas.

I think limitations keeps agendas more targeted as if you know you have at most eight years to seal your legacy .. you don't let grass grow under your feet.

Exactly. Eloquently said. There's no time to get comfortable and say "oh I'll take care of that next term".

Why did Mr. Ken West allow a victim's name, age and address be listed in the newspaper? I have never seen that done. Absolutely terrible!!!!!!!!!! Is it not enough the poor woman suffered, but to humiliate her in front of the entire town? Mr. West, that is totally unprofessional.

OMG, why didn't ACOG jump on that one?
Guess the person was already humilated enough that ACOG couldn't do any more harm?
