Is there any thing to gain by coming out?

Usually answers come to one on the "T"scale; listing your pros and cons on paper; great way of solving problems . It sounds like you want the world to know; and that will perhaps make you feel better inside. Its not like getting a tattoo (making a bold colorful statement). It will be a life changing decision and will be a part of your family and others forever. You have probably had a lot of people who have believed in you and held you in their hearts for a very long time without a label on it. You are older (by your name) and certainly responsible for all your decisions. I do not feel you are gaining anything by doing this but I honestly wish you were not that way or have adopted an unnatural approach to yourself, sexuality and life in general. You will get a few "way to gos"; will those be worth it? I know there is nothing in this post that will change your life but if others actually read through; maybe it will impact someone else.

my opinion if you are gay I don't want to know, I don't want to see it flaunted in front of me or my children especially in public. Keep it behind closed doors.

As a responsible adult I do keep "it" behind closed doors. Unlike some heterosexual couples that I see. I guess that would be alright for the kids to see?

Can't really say that I have ever felt unnatural .

What concerns me is people who are gay want attention and you have proved my point. Why ask such a question on topix then expect everyone to applaud your homosexuality. I don't care if a person is gay or straight as long as they don't carry a chip on their shoulder or expect special accommodations for your life decision. I'm straight but I don't go around asking people if I should be gay. Nor, do I expect the world to change because I am straight and others are gay. The worst thing the gay community has done is shove their sexual preference down our throats and become militant because others don't agree or disapprove.

"Shove their sexual preference down our throats" just doesn't sound good when discussing gays.....

Well you are, you were not designed for this mentally or physically and what you are doing and are about to do will only hurt and destroy. Do you think you can come on Topix and expect straight people to slap you on the limp wrist and say "well he is rich or he is old or he had uncle Ferstus or Aunt Hellion introduce him to it. As for children you are not a role model and you should not try to force your thoughts on what you as a semi intelligent person have chosen to do to young vulnerable minds. Also you have hurt someone who could have really loved you in a good way. I won't accept your lifestyle, I don't believe in it and you can rant until the cows come home but you have that "learned experience" its not natural except to your "gays". You are a very small population in the world and why even talk about coming out of the closet; why were you in the closet so long?

I am sure glad I have found such a highly intelligent person to point out all my flaws for me. Hey don't ever remember saying I was a role model for anyone. I sure hope you aren't modeling to many children minds. Also didn't ask you to accept anything. You are definitely entitled to your opinion. As far as small . You would really be surprised at the number of individuals in Blairsville alone. Those who are gay, bisexual of just married and curious.

You seemed to know all the stereotype "gay" things but you would really be surprised at the number of completely "normal" acting and looking people who are gay. And those that live amongst you. The ones that interact with on a daily basis. Heaven forbid that you might even have one or two in your family.

Actually don't really need attention at all. Only reason I came here was to get a little feed back. Only reason I might come out or even talk here about it is to educate a little. Those closeted gays everyday that have to hear all the homophobic crap from family and friends, and then pretend it was funny, and then laugh at the ignorant jokes. After a while it just gets a little old. The next time you are telling your gay joke to a group of people stop and think ....hey there might be someone gay here. I really believe that one of the saddest things is that people can always spot the gay person. While some make it really easy to tell, there are just as many that don't.

You asked for comments and what people think. Now, you are arguing about their opinions.

No one who commented is narrow minded. They said how they feel which is more common than not in our society.

I don't care who is married or pretends to be straight and is actually gay.
At least they don't run around flaunting their sexual preference.

If more gays would just shut up and stop asking society to embrace them, they would get a lot further in life and receive less criticism.

Educate? We all know what homosexuality is and, in this day and age, need no "education."

I'm sorry but I don't know people who tell gay jokes. I don't know anyone who thinks it is funny. Disgusting, yes. Funny, no. I can't tell you when, if ever, I've heard a group of people telling jokes about gay people. I don't know anyone who obsesses about gay people except gay people themselves. It is something most of us want to ignore and forget exists.

One last comment and there will be no more.

.Event at Chick-Fil-A in Ellijay should give you an idea how people really feel about the gay community pushing their agenda.

What is it that really makes you uncomfortable . So your saying what you don't know wont hurt you. Are you really that insecure that you can't except someone being different from you. Even if their life has nothing to do with you in any way. Sounds like you might have a few issues yourself.

I am too shy for that kind of thing. Maybe more the scene from Deliverance. You know how those mountain men are.
