When Freedom Rings

Memorial Day, observed on the last Monday in May, honors the sacrifice of the Armed Forces men and women who paid the "last full measure of devotion."

And to those who continue to show such devotion ... You are always in our prayers, and we are Indebted with unending gratitude.

Thanks for your sacrifices, and that of your families.

May we never forget all those who paid the ultimate sacrifice for their country and for our freedoms.

It saddens me that only two posting, particularly, on this holiday weekend see the need to remember those giving their lives for us to enjoy those liberties on this Memorial Day Holiday.

Thank you to all our Troops both past and present.

My father and his father before him were in the service,
that's what prompted me to join. I am proud to serve our country.

My father, two uncles, seven cousins (one female) all proudly served in the Army and Marines. Two WWII, three Korean Conflict, three Vietnam, and one in Afghanistan. God brought them all safely back home.

It is the
VETERAN,
not the preacher,
who has given us freedom of religion.

It is
the VETERAN,
not the reporter,
who has given us freedom of the press.

It is
the VETERAN,
not the poet,
who has given us freedom of speech.

It is
the VETERAN,
not the campus organizer,
who has given us freedom to assemble.

It is
the VETERAN,
not the lawyer,
who has given us the right to a fair trial.

It is
the VETERAN,
not the politician,
Who has given us the right to vote.

Bless our friends who have died in our arms during battle. Bless all our family members who have served. Bless all who have served to protect our freedoms.

I can remember coming back from the war in Nam and people acting like you were something less than you were. I am so proud to see the American people finally starting to recognize the sacrifices some have given for them. Service people did not start wars or want wars, they only die for those who do.

Like you, I remember. I, too am glad the American people are aware of the sacrifices that were and are made by those that serve.
I lost a lot of friends over there. I will never forget them.

Yes, and I am honoring them. But, I am also keeping in mind all that are presently serving. What's your point?
They are all heroes in my eyes.

I am very sorry for your loss.

Mine left for Vietnam a happy and healthy kid. He came back so screwed up he never recovered, until he finally lost his battle with depression last year.

I hope your family was able to overcome your brother's loss.

You're in my prayers.

When we both get to see our brothers again it will be a happy day.

Thank you and I am so sorry about your son. My prayers are with you also. It is something we both probably will never overcome.
