Are you for REAl??? You obviously have NO idea how much money is spent on the programs you mention. A lot of these people don't pay income tax because they don't earn enought at the jobs they work at every day. The amount of money you fret over is a drop in the ocean compared to what old folks draw from the Feds. Old folks cash their checks and let our grandchildren pay the bills and then go on vacation. The same old folks that are sucking this country dry also pay almost no income tax. Take time to look at the numbers before talking about things you don't understand.
The only thing you understand is nothing! Yeah, give the money away to moochers and take it away from the people that actually paid into programs not by choice, but by the force of a government gun. Your really a dimwit.

I agree, we should stop ALL social security checks today and start paying down the national debt. When its paid of and we have built our army back to the cold war days and if lazy old folks on goverment government sponsored welfare still want a check, maybe!
I worked for over 50 years and paid into Social Security so I could enjoy the "Golden Years" as they are called. You have got to be an ignorant and cold-hearted SOB! You will be old one of these days and God help you!!

Can you believe all the head butting on this forum? That is why I call it entertaining. It's a total waste of time, but I am guaranteed at least a few laughs every day. I love it.
Ate a basket of loaded nachos and 7 PBR's and then had two hot dogs and some root beer from 7-11. If we wanted to break the deadlock in Congress, you should have locked em in a room with me after what just came outta my bhole. I kid you not, I'm glad I was outside when I erupted because the wretchedness and the force that just exited my body has the ozone alarm going off at Al Gore's house. It came outta me like an air bag deployment in a car wreck, I'm still dizzy.

Don't worry. I've heard that the IRS will be hiring HUNDREDS of people to help with Obamacare. You were worried about IRS jobs, too. Right?
Going back to MOTHERJONES. PLEASE don't EVER complain about FOX NEWS again!
Actually the number to be hired is in the tens of thousands. Calif alone says it needs 15k.
Most if these hires will be ex-Acorn Obamanite supporters.
More welfare for the dumb and clueless.
Pathetic isn't it.

Yes, very pathetic. I wasn't sure about the number to be hired, but I knew it was a lot. I played it safe by saying hundreds. Thinking about it now, hundreds didn't even make sense. Thanks.

Too funny, too funny.

Let's review the facts that were presented and see if any of them were refuted in your post...

- in the current fiscal year, the IRS plans to devote 18 percent less effort to auditing companies with more than $10 million in assets than it did just two years ago.

- The agency has seen a $1 billion budget cut in the past year

- this comes before the effect of the sequester, which will slash $600 million from its budget this year.

- The IRS also projects that the amount of time available for specialized agents to conduct these audits will drop 14 percent as well, thanks to staffing cuts.

- the amount of staff time devoted to auditing the average Joe has gone up 62 percent since 2011

- it's fallen nearly 30 percent for corporations

- The IRS's workforce today is 23 percent smaller than it was in 1992

- even though the number of returns filed has gone up 27 percent over the same period

- the agency is down 10,000 employees compared to what it had during the 2010 tax season

No where in your post do I see anything resembling references to refute the facts that were published. Instead I see an attack on the messenger who is simply reporting on material provided by others ( http://trac.syr.edu/aboutTRACgeneral.html ). Naturally, your attack on the publication is entirely misguided, which is becoming par for the course.

You really must try harder.

Interesting coming from someone who OBVIOUSLY wants the government to control his life.
Thank you for the opportunity to restate my position, perhaps you missed it the first time around which explains your effort to put words in my mouth...

When it's time to restock my cupboard with peanut butter, I much prefer the free market approach of visiting each vendor's facility and evaluating for myself their processing procedures. Business is too over-regulated, and as a True Freedom Loving American I Thank God I can spend all of my time inspecting the farms, processing plants, transportation and storage facilities that provide the items on my weekly grocery list.

An informed consumer is the real invisible hand driving the market.

Course anyone who has looked at the history of America's long experiment with unregulated free markets will know the end result of that stacked deck.

What's your beef, that Obama makes use of legal deductions. I seem to recall that this is a praise-worthy attribute when others employ it. Perhaps you are upset that Obama continues to be consistent in his advocacy of increasing the taxes on the wealthy even though he is among those who will be paying more.

Back in Jefferson's time when wars were fought with muskets that was a pretty valid argument. Now not so much.

The first time a redneck with a gun-show prize is faced with an A-10 Warthog, you're going to have a redneck with smelly pants.

Think a bit before you type stupid stuff. 200 years ago a dentist might recommend wooden teeth. That's not good advice now either.

Did Jefferson really say that? Why bogus quotations matter in gun debate
updated 7:49 PM EST, Fri January 11, 2013
By Nicole Saidi, CNN
http://www.cnn.com/2013/01/11/opinion/jeffers...

The Founding Fathers are frequently quoted in the gun control debate, but many of those quotations turn out to be fake.

The most popular comment on a recent story about gun control featured a purported quotation from Thomas Jefferson. More than 2,000 votes pushed it to the top.

"When governments fear the people, there is liberty," reads the quotation. "When the people fear the government, there is tyranny. The strongest reason for the people to retain the right to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government."

The same quotation has been posted dozens of times in other readers' posts. Some readers worked to debunk it by mentioning Monticello.org , the Thomas Jefferson Foundation's website, which has a section devoted to "spurious" quotations that have been attributed to the third president of the United States. The website lists several variations of the quotation, featured on two pages, and says staff "have not found any evidence that Thomas Jefferson said or wrote" those words....
