Must be a lot of special needs "out there". We have this "conversation" on an on-going basis. Is Faith23 and LuLu the same poster? Who is totally sick and tired of this "conversation" besides me?

Went to a restaurant tonight with my family. Will not mention where. A total beauty came in the door with her mom and brother. Beauty was handicapped and I don't know if mental, physical or both, but there was a wheelchair and garbled speech. OMG! She was a delightful young person and so loved by that family! It was warming to see the love there. We should all take "a moment" (ONE MOMENT) to thank our God we are talking, walking, driving, seeing, hearing, using the internet, dating, marrying, eating our food by ourselves...... please consider the alternatives.
some of the alternatives can be found commenting on this forum...i.e...the "don't give boo a gun" freak of nature...such low self-esteem as evidenced by its incessant condescending insults trying to make others feel inferior so it can feel superior...a true sign and symptom of mental illness...

me nor boo belittled special needs children. we simply said that they should be in smaller classrooms where they can get more one on one attention. how in the world is that belittling? they have been diagnosed with special needs so they of course will need special attention.

I don't know where your child/children go to school but most of the special needs kids and the special ed kids are in smaller classrooms..some are mainstreamed for only one class.and they have support from a parapro or co-teacher while in that class. There are also resource classes for those who are having a difficult time. Have you even bothered to sit in on classes?...if you have you would know this.

honey, i have been an aide in special ed classrooms. i KNOW how it works in this school system. why dont you go read the rest of the thread so you can get better insight on this discussion. not all school systems operate this way. the discussion was about whether special needs children can function in mainstream classrooms. my opinion is that they need small classrooms with one on one attention. so whats the problem?
