Dear Mr. Ritter,
On July 26th I put in a open records request asking for copies of letters from the auditors to Mr. Paris. Below is what I requested and Lamar's response.
I never received my request!
Open Records Request 7/26/13
Copy of the Union County 2012 Audit along with each and every additional document provided with the audit by the auditors. ALL auditor findings & letters to the commissioner.
**********
Lamars Response 7/29/13
You have received a copy of the 2012 audit per your request on Friday, July 26, 2013.
Your additional request from July 26,2013 will be available within ten days or less, "...each and every additional document provided with the audit by the auditors (all auditor findings and letters to the commissioner." The cost of this information should not exceed $20.00.
Lamar Paris

When is your office going to ENFORCE the OPEN RECORDS LAW. I have put in numerous violations of the Open Records Law in this County and YOUR OFFICE has done absolutely NOTHING. There was no reason that I should have waited more than 3 days for this request let alone 10 days and still waiting. Lamar will continue to break the law as long as your office let's him.
Sincerely,
Linda Pittman

I have sent the AG's office more letters than I care to mention. He will not do his job.
Do you remember me putting in a open records request to he AG'S office. Remember he said I had to go down there to get the information. Once I was there Mr. Ritter said the documents were not there that he left them at home.( Yeh, Right)
It took me a couple more months but they would not turn over everything. They are all a bunch of crooks watching each other's backs.
You have sent the AG's office "more letter than I care to mention," i.e., you have pestered the hell out of that office, too.
When are you going to learn you've cried wolf one to many times and no one wants to listen to what you have to say?
It is almost comical and I'm sure you are the butt of many jokes.

Better to be the butt of jokes than to just let your own butt grow fatter while casting stones and doing nothing. The good 'ole boyz that so-called run this county are laughing at complacent do-nothings that they have so completely fooled. Why not support those that question authority when they follow the rules and reasonably request answers and proof to support such information.

One thing is for certain... YOU are absolutely NOT part of any solutions- which means you are part of the problem.

You may be right. This County is full of people who want Government to rule our lives. Detroit is just the beginning. Obamacare is just the beginning. When I moved here I thought Lamar was a good Conservative, fiscally responsible leader, now I know he is a follower of Socialism.

At one time, socialists used to be tax and spend. Nowadays, they are also spend and tax. In history and political science departments of colleges, the liberals/socialists would praise any "benevolent dictator" of a country because they said the masses were too stupid for a form of government where the masses participated.

“Concerned Retired person” as Topix continues to deteriorate many of the most reasonable folks visiting the site for information and those wishing to have a more positive useful and intellectual conversation are leaving the site.

Unfortunately the more perverted, childish, overtly malevolent, offensive, and wickedly negative are allowed, even encouraged by the site, while it appears concerns speaking to the political demise of our community and Nation are quickly and routinely removed.

In many cases the effort to overwhelm productive useful conversation is obvious, other not so much.

Nevertheless, I have to believe that we have more decent well-meaning people in our community than this site would indicate.

Some of us realize the need to take a stand and never give up the fight to return our Nation to the principals upon which it was founded.

We may not always agree. But serious and reasonable discourse is essential if we are to protect, restore and preserve this great Nation for our children and grandchildren.

How refreshing to hear you being “a move-in” as described by “the locals” have disclosed the God given common sense to recognize that which many regardless from where they may come refuse to accept.

Although I have much more to say, I am often criticized for being so long winded, so for now I’ll close.

VOTE NO ON SPLOST !!!

U R Nuts... while I'm not a big fan of your far right politics, I appreciate the overall message in your post. What we DO agree on is keeping this country and its founding principles alive... we ALL just need to agree/compromise on how to gets it done. What scares the HECK out of me is that both "sides" are SO far apart. Is it going to take a MAJOR disaster, or WAR to get us all back together again? Seems that way... sadly. I'm losin' faith, man!

BTW- we agree on the SPLOST issue, too.

"When the people find that they can vote themselves money, that will herald the end of the republic." Benjamin Franklin

You could add perks (horse barns, government run markets, etc.) right after the word 'money'.

When I came here we did not have many perks, and this was a great place to live. Now we have perks, and higher taxes and bigger Government. Is it better? Bigger Government is not the answer. If we can't even control our local taxes, God help us.

If the Topix posters would look at our founding fathers actual thinking and intentions it would help.

"The Constitution is not an instrument for the government to restrain the people, it is an instrument for the people to restrain the government -- lest it come to dominate our lives and interests."
Patrick Henry

We have to start locally, we need to restrain local spending. Government provided perks do not make our County any better it makes us less wealthy as individuals.

I wouldn't argue with you OR Pat Henry. I'm "right" regarding WAY too much in hand outs and unlimited Medicare and SS paid no matter how wealthy an old person is and, generally, holding EVERYBODY accountable to making SOME kind of contribution to society. I despise leeches.

On my "left" side, NOBODY should ever be denied the kind of healthcare benefits currently offered only to seniors, abortion is ONLY that involved woman's decision, and the increasing "wealth" divide in this country IS a problem. So... how the HECK do we resolve our differences of opinion?

You believe YOU are right, and I feel the same about MY beliefs. We are unlikely to change each others minds, so how do we move towards a decision? Congress certainly can't... heck, even I can't be "all in" for one side or the other!!

Unfortunately, all will be determined by who has the most MONEY to "buy" the most politicians. You've got to be LOADED, or huge financial backing to even RUN. And, if you do run, at least half the money is spent DEFENDING yourself from opponents and the media rather than expressing your interest in what SHOULD be serving your constituency. If you do get "in", your too busy paying back the big money that got you there, or you ain't getting re-elected.

I wish I knew what to do to help end this gridlock... but I don't. Any ideas?

No, I do not espouse to your leftist views, and it appears our beliefs as to our founding principles may be indeed just as far as the east is from the west.

Nevertheless most divisions among the American people are intentionally, created, and contrived simply for the purpose of generating a chaos that will continue to pit us one against another until the sinister agenda of the total destruction of our once Great Nation is achieved.

It pains me that many, such as you, usually don’t temper their words and thoughts such as you have done in this posting.

I’m just saying you would receive more consideration of your comments should they all be as non aggressive as this posting to which I respond.

Hilarious!! As IF I could care less about YOUR "consideration" of my comments. You are truly a self-righteous "know it all" that doesn't understand the difference between a conversation and an ARGUMENT.

If you weren't so concerned about "winning" EVERY debatable subject for any posts with which you disagree, you might actually create a useful dialogue. People like YOU in Congress is the reason nothing is getting done.

I'm done "trying" with you... go ahead and take a parting shot, since a person like you will need to "win".
