Could care less about the city of Blairsville just a wide spot in the road to get junk food.
Like the county but spend little here other then taxes and a little propane.
Everything else buy outside of Union county won't use locals for work around house poor quality and high prices.

I guess you just can't have a forum here without all of the negativity.
It's been a very long time since I've been in Blairsville. I know alot has changed, but, some of the things I've carried with me through the years; The smell of spring in Union county, flowers blooming, fresh cut grass. Seeing ridges in the mountains that look like they're on fire with blooming mountain laurels. Some of the best fishing I've ever experinced and I have done some fishing around this country. The Sorgham Festival back in the day, greased pig chasing, greased pole climbing and tobacco spitting contest.
The town square and square dances. SOUTHERN HOSPITALITY.
Those smokey mountains, especially on a rainy spring morning. Nothing quite like them. Diving off of the cliffs on the lake. Mountain traditions that have all but died in other regions of the south, still alive and well. The music. Appalachian mountain music, Bluegrass, country and gospel and some southern Rock too.
Last but not least, those southern girls..They don't make em like that anywhere else and it took me a long time after I left Ga. to actually believe the girls up here in NH. were even pretty! They sure did like my southern accent and manners though.. ; )
Every place has it's negatives. Everything changes as time goes on. Sometimes we take what we have and where we are for granted. This I know about Blairville, and it doesn't matter what the local politics of the moment are or who's fueding with who; It's a stunningly beautiful place with the kind of geography that stays with you forever. I've been in every single state in this union and I've spent a fair amount of time in quite a few of them. I've seen the Hoover dam, Got married at Niagra falls, worked a fishing boat in the Berring Sea and spent some time in the wilds of alaska. Climbed to the top of bridal veil falls in Yosimite, even caught a timber rattler on the way down. No biggie, I was catching diamond backs at eight in Blairsville. Lived in Vegas and I've spent time in the Pacific northwest. I've been fortunate enough to see some amazing country, but, still, Those north Georgia mountains and my childhood there will always rate at the very top!
Funny, as I write this, so many memories come flooding back and it is my sincere hope that those that know what they have always appreciate it because I absolutely believe that there are still decent country values and folk there and I assure you, it's a special place!
