Middle School Coach

I was at the 8th grade game yesterday when Union was playing Towns. The game was close all the way to the end. And it could have been a great game. What made it not to be great, is the actions on the middle school coach. During the final minute or so of the game one of the Towns Cnounty players and one of the Union County players started to jockey for position on a throw in. The ref started to handle the situation when she came storming onto the court. She then shouts at the Towns player "you will not act like that on MY home court". By this time the refs are trying to get her to calm down and then the Towns County coach is on the floor now. The she turns on the Towns County coach. The refs gave her a "T" and the Towns County player.
Oh but wait.... to start the next game the refs gets both coaches together and then the Union coach starts again. Only this time there was a couple Towns County parents that wanted a say.
It could have been a very nasty situation. But the refs got it under control.
The more I think about it, the more embarrassed I get.
She might have thought she was standing up for her player. But, all she did was so how little control she has. It is not the way students should learn to handle conflict.

Do you know how petty your comments sounds after the incident in CN? Give it a rest and be thankful our kids are safe.

Sign up for being a coach, work for pennies and let others judge you. Sorry your kid sits the bench.

Maybe a gun would've been better.

Sorry..... Horrible uncalled for remark. Just pissed that once again the right to bear arms has trumped the right to go to school, to shop, to to go to movies, to go to church, to attend to every day life.

Resident, your intelect is astounding. When I wrote the post I did not know of the events in Newtown. Talking to the school's AD most likely would not help seeing that she was there running the clock for the game, and during all of the events she did not move to diffuse the situation.

BTW WELL, I have no childern in the school system. I am, an alumni of Union County. I was there to watch a game between students and instead in became a game of ego. But it sounds as if you approve of her behavior. Correct me if I am wrong.

And to the last post, yes what if their ego's was so big that they decided to go to their car for their gun for ulitmate "I'll show her".

Lookie Lou.. That is a very profound point of view. I don't think I have ever heard anyone state their position in such a way that, with any luck at all, will make people stop and think. You have hit one out of the park. Thank you.

If you all are as smart as you claim, I would find another target to bitch about other than Jimmy's baby girl.
The last school official who screwed with her found himself in a world of Sh*t. Is that not correct Donnie?
The coach only makes about $800.00 a year to do all she does. I am not willing to do her job for that kind of money.Leave her alone.

PARTS, Base on your view she is above the rules that everyone else has to play be, because she is Jimmy's daughter. That does not seem fair.

So what if the refs hadn't stop her and she went after the player from Towns County. Should she also be above the same standard that every other teacher, coach or school employee is held to?

As i sit here and laugh to myself I can't seem to come to any conclusion other than you just can't fix STUPID, and most of the time I don't even get on here because it's nothing but a bunch of trash talking ridiculous opinions, someone that has nothing better to do than to stir the pot. However here I am as a parent of children that play sports in the school system, and you are gonna have things you like and things you don't, but get OVER it. Really, it's life, and life just isn't FAIR and as we all know sports aren't either. So to the smart one who decided to slam Jana Tallent Hemphill on topix, do you really think it bothers her? and to the other comments about daddy's girl, o well I say go Jimmy and Jeanie Tallent for spoiling your baby to where people think she is a daddy's little BRAT, for I think as any parent we spoil our kids to death and o well that's just what we do, wanting them to have more and better things than we did. But let's get to the real deal here, she went to college and has an education and doesn't live off the system, pays her bills, and loves her kids, wow and not just her kids, I too was there that night sitting right in front of what was going on and I do have to say i am disappointed that the ref standing right there let the girls go on as long as they did and to Jana i commend you for going on that court and trying to holler over the Union and Towns County audience and get your girls as well as break up what apparently everyone in the gym seen, and as many on here agreed something that should not have went as long as it did. But let's take just a few minutes to talk about the other lady before the 7th grade game who took it upon herself to go down to where the ref's, Towns County's coach and Jana and begin the scene all over again. Did you see that as well or had you already left? I was there and No i do have to say Jana didn't start that! O well though enough is enough. To Jana I can speak on over half of the ball players parents, thank you for LOVING our girls and treating them as if they were your own, thank you for protecting them, and thank you for your wonderful coaching! You are appreciated.

If I'm comprehending what I read correctly, you bring up a topic that was pretty dull and slow to begin with, because I'm sure a lot of people had no idea who the coach was, so you decided to "help" her by putting her full name on this site. I think it was pretty clear from the lack of response to the original post that no one really gives a crap.
