I heard the prision is hiring down south.Former deputies have found jobs there!
Deputies would have to go through the state hiring process and attend 4-5 weeks of training to work at a prison. It is at least a six-month process. There service with UCSO would be considered "experience" but won't guarantee hiring with the state.

Mason will need good cause to fire deputies.

We'll be watching, Mason.

<quoted text>I've said this all along. If I was a young deputy, I would never resign. I'd try to just do the job, and if I got fired because I was a loyal Scott supporter, so be it. And this may very well happen. Then I would ride unemployment as much and as long as I could while looking for another job...
If fired, can a person draw unemployment?

GA, right to work state. can replace anyone for no reason. May draw unemployment. That isn't the point, rather competent qualifed employees need to be retained, either existing or new hires. If you read my entire posting, said nothing abour firing anyone. Just reapply for their position. Level legal playing field for all. Those with issues will make their own decisions. Have no knowledge of any of existing or the new sheriff. Just side bar observation.

Unfortunately whoever holds office will never be accepted by all. If Mac has not led this communities law enforcement services previously then there is no way to measure or judge his abilities to do so. In retrospect there has been plenty of " history " to prove that the previous elect could have impacted the community in a more positive manner than he and his staff did in the 8 years that he held office. For those of you who know the current staff and feel that you have been wronged by the behaviors, actions, and possible negligence of their state mandated duties, you have the right to be informed. Its called lexusnexusOCGA. Here you will find the laws as they are written by the lawmakers of our state not the sheriff. Here you will come to know what the law is instead of being bullied or antimidated by strong arm duress. Educate yourselves with useful and enforceable knowledge instead of he said she said. Petitioning the state government creates movement, topix only creates harm in most cases. God be with us all.......please.

<quoted text>Good post, I fear many of these clueless people are going to regret their vote in the coming four years just as many Obama supporters did. I think a huge mistake was made but maybe he'll prove me wrong. For the sake of our county, I hope so. Just for the record, I'd love to see how many funerals Mr. Mason shows up for now that he's won the election. He certainly didn't miss any prior to the election, too many captive people to campaing to.
Yep, I certainly agree with you there!

Nothing real will change. Many of the old ones will be allowed to stay. Read that again.... Nothing of significance will change. Same old hot dawgs on the road. Now they will have the backing of their boss. Get ready...

I'm sure we all can be sideline coaches. The last 12 years are stenciled in history. Jan 01 the time starts over. lets support whoever is retained and wish the best to those who move on.
We are fortunate we don't live in a community racked with shootings, carjacking and thugs gone wild!!!!
Wish everyone a Merry Christmas

I have heard the hiring process is going quite well and Mason hasn't had to ask for advice from the current office holder or any of the present staff.

Mason knew from day 1 of the campaign what he 'could do' if he won, and now that he is going in on January 1, none other than Lamar ( who signs the checks )knows there is a load of deadwood leaving.

Apparently, you spent the last 12 years 'watching' this current fiasco fester and grow and were satisfied.

Rest assured, there are a lot of people sitting back, and watching you....'watch Mason'.

Many of the deputies have gone silent on Facebook!

For days now they have been real chatty. Lots of comments.

Good riddance.....

Look forward to seeing most of the 32 working on the road crews.
Maybe we'll finally get some return on money spent.
