Truth wrote: Nothing real will change. Many of the old ones will be allowed to stay. Read that again.... Nothing of significance will change. Same old hot dawgs on the road. Now they will have the backing of their boss. Get ready... The deputies will be more strict and should be. No one gets pissed at you for doing your job so why should you? Example: if you get pulled over for speeding, well the speed limit is posted so its no one elses fault but yours. You control the pedals. As for the new sheriff he will be better. He's not afraid to do his job and wont put up with anybody crap and shouldn't.

The tint was just one small point. The major points brought up seem to have gone back burner. Now with these trashed premises, erased hard drives, that should stir up the pot. Remember when George W. Bush won election, Clintons outgoing team took all of the "W" off every keyboard, computer , causing thousands of dollars in damage. Hillary hauled off art that eventually was returned. The stories forthcoming will be Topix fodder for some time.

I'm so thankful to be moving in 4 months now that Mr. Mason has taken office. Sheriff Stephens was not perfect, but I feel that a lot of you will start missing his administration when you start getting tickets for going 5 over. Things are definitely going to changing, we will see if its for better or worse in the coming months.

Local LE agencies cannot write speeding tickets unless it is for 10 miles or more over the speed limit.

The problem with Stephens and his thugs was not the laws they were enforcing, it was the laws they were breaking. They felt as if the laws were for everyone else. The UCSO was above the law. I just hope that getting rid of Stephens works out better than getting rid of Cooper. Duncan is making Cooper look competent!:) Can't wait till Duncan starts kissing up to Mason. I bet Mason knows BS when it hears or sees it? Mason maybe a hard sell?:) big news wrote: <quoted text>And the new circus and the new clowns moved in and took over. Let the show begin.

If officers start to write lot's of tickets to residents he will be gone next election. That is something people won't stand for. I am not talking kids driving 80 in a 50. I mean people doing the usual 60 on 129 and 70 on the four lane.

Clay Co elected a super trooper as sheriff and he did just that and Joe Shook is an ex-sheriff.Writing tickets for a living is not real law enforcement work it is generally revenue producing act.

clarification wrote: <quoted text> That's if they use radar or VASCAR. Otherwise, they can. Well your not exactly correct. A local LEO can write a citation for 10 mph over no matter what he uses to clock the speed. That includes pacing the offender. Second a citation can be written for five over in a marker school zone.

The local written tickets using radar or laser must be 10 or over with the exceptions being a school zone or a designated historic district. The road must approved by GSP and the grade cannot be 7% or greater, there is also a 500 ft visibility requirement and these tickets can frequently be beaten but many times you must get past the local magistrate and go to state court. Tickets are generally written to raise revenue or following too closely would be the most common tickets written as that offense is the most common cause of accidents.

I would like to thank Union Co for electing a handicap rookie as Sheriff. As results from that we have floridiots running the county as well as misfits that the last administration had gotten rid of. So hats off to the new sheriff for replacing those deputies with retirees and lets give him a round of applause for his first accomplishment which was taking off the window tint, yay! Way to go Mack!!
