The landlord or owner pays the property tax and passes it on to the renter in their rent. The renters actually indirectly pay property taxes. Usually higher property taxes means higher rents.

SPLOST does not give you a break on property tax at all, most likely it means an increase since the new facilities built by SPLOST need employees and maintenance, forever.

Show me a renter who receives a tax bill and goes to the tax commissioner to pay it. Sorry, but this is invalid. The renter pays solely for the privilege to live at a place that he doesn't have to maintain.

You must not be able to read the post. Sorry, maybe you are sight deprived. The Landlord pays the taxes and passes the expense on to the renters. That is the definition of renting, someone else owns the house, apartment. The taxes are in the rent.

What a dumb statement! So, I guess no portion of rent $$ received EVER goes toward the tax bill, right? Use your head, silly.

Maybe I will amend my statement. Renters are not directly responsible for property tax. Further, when the renter moves on, he is automatically absolved of any obligation, which never included property tax payment in the first place.

Then he or she will move on and either become a property owner and pay property tax directly or rent again and pay property tax indirectly. A renter pays his share just like everyone, that is the point and bottom line.

I really think SPLOST projects raise property tax since these items never go away after being built and increase Government employees and maintenance expenses forever.

Look at the post on regressive taxation on Topix Blairsville and you will see who pays.

wow, you're mentally challenged. But you serve as a good example of why we need to improve our educational system. Just hope we pick smarter people to have their finger on the nuclear button.

thanks for your input.
