Hope House serves Union County residents, transients and the homeless who are in critical need. They do not have unlimited funds. All their funds are provided by donation from churches and individuals. They do not give money to individuals but do send checks directly to the appropriate business/utility. Hope House is a faith-based organization and does not discrimate against any person or faith. If you feel you have been discrimated against please speak with the Executive Director.

I can believe, but dont stop there, call gov,& us depts.Dahlonega has some of the worst people standing in positions of trust, that we've ever encountered.I am the maternal grand-mother of the "ex-white county deputy who was arrested for child porn charges last year.He has pled guilty to charges of production/exploitation.he will be sentenced on nov 27th.cheryl dooley needs to go.judge aldermann is gone.you get justice there depending on you you know.u wont exp. that much on the federal level.we r working on exposing all who interfered w/ the mothers right to protect her child, even throwing the child into the pits of the lion, giving him full access.

Went to Hope House today. Earlier in the week, was told by a male they were open on Thursday to come by. He'd asked what I needed and I told him my dire need-short story, where I lived, etc...Today, one nice lady called me back and began asking questions. Another walked up, cut me off and wanted to know where I was from. I told her that I was staying in Fannin, soon to be homeless due to illness and job loss, but trying to find a place in Blairsville so I could go to tech school I'd previously applied to. She interrupted again-put her hand in my face practically, and said, ExCUSE ME! We cannot HELP you! I told her I was told by phone they could and wasted what little gas I had to get there. She acted as if I was lying and said WHO told you THAT?? I said, the man on the phone Monday-YOU should know-you work here! She again replied we can't help you, and basically shooed me away. I left in tears. I don't care if they could not help me, but she was so mean, cruel. They can put all the christian literature in their waiting room they want, but her attitude was WRONG! If they have no compassion, they should NOT be allowed to work there, when it is difficult enough to ask for help, and embarrassing, and people are hurting inside. I know people abuse places like that, but I am the real deal, and she just assumed I was worthless as a human being-I did not matter. I say, good luck if you get treated with a morsel of respect, and God HELP if THAT woman thinks she represents Christ-quite the opposite. Thanks for hurting my heart and causing me and my son to walk away more hopeless than before.

According to their business listing, they say:

Faith-based, volunteer organization established as a ministry of the Union County Ministerial Association to assist residents in critical need.

As a "foundation" they can (and probably DO) receive government funding... I wonder from who? They should be reported for this kind of NOT-help. Where does their money go?

Good luck to you and your son.

Hope house does not receive any government funding. All the funds they receive come from local churches and individuals. The only "government" aspect is that they received is by being tax free organization.

I DID check facts by searching web on the UCMA... and discovered what follows about their tax exempt status. I'm not disputing they are all donation supported... since you seem to know. If you are an associate, do you know anything about the 6Dec12 posted problem? That treatment just seemed rude... if the story was true. Sorry for presuming they might receive govt support... here is what I read:

"The UCMA is an organization which receives a substantial part of its support from a governmental unit or the general public 170(b)(1)(A)(vi)"

Just Mike is having trouble understanding the meaning of the word "or" in that sentence.

If they were to take in everybody who shows up at their door, regardless of where they're from, there would be a line stretching all the way from Atlanta.

It's a local organization helping local people, with LOCAL being the operative word.

It does NOT - even in YOUR quote, say that - it says those who are UNWILLING to work shall not eat. God help YOU if you ever have the misfortune to lose your job, for it ALSO says 'as ye sow, so shall ye reap' & 'as ye do unto the least of these my brothers, ye do unto me.' shame on you.

I agree with you, Lisa. "Unwilling" to work is a LOT different than being un-wanted or un-needed FOR employment.

I wish the Federal govt. would sponsor some kind of work opportunity programs like during the Great Depression... the CCC for example. This country's infrastructure is in SUCH bad shape... and it would be a great opportunity for those of us that truly WANT to work. It also removes the "excuse" to collect unemployment checks for 99+ weeks.

I have a lot of respect for St. Frances catholic church, they seem to help a lot of people. On the other hand I have been to Hope House 3 or 4 different times and EVERY time they come up with a different excuse as to why they won't help me. And I must say some time they are literally grasping at straws. People can say whatever they want on their behalf, but it is apparent to me they DON'T want to help very many people. St. Frances on the other hand go out of their way to help people! And they will even help people from out of town as i witnessed on one of my visits. God bless St. Frances, and everyone in need!

People in the USA are sick and tired of helping poor Americans..........Slip their shoes on for a second or two......Some of them Absolutely Need a Swift Kick in the Buttocks, but not all of them.....

People are born into Poor Families with little or no chance of succeeding in life. They are lucky if they finish High School. Many of the young girls rush into bad marriages in the hope that their husband will take care of them...all he does is get them pregnant and disappear..

What do you expect them to do? Get a Job making Minimum Wage or Less (Waitresses), Pay Child Care while they work? Pay their own Medical Insurance? Pay Rent, Buy Food, Pay the Electric Bill, Pay Heating Bills, Buy Clothes, Shoes, etc to look presentable when applying for a Minimum Wage Job, oh, and save money for Retirement as well..........Could You Do It, without help?

Americans Don't Want To Help Them Or their Innocent Children who have done Nothing Wrong, Made NO bad life choices, and are NOT Responsible for their poor predicament....

Yet Here We Are Spending Billions of Tax Dollars Helping Illegal Aliens From Other Countries, and feeling good about it..........Charity Begins At Home....

Many of these Central American "Kids" are 15 to 17 Year Old Drug Cartel Gang Members who are Vicious Murderers, Rapists, Robbers, Kidnappers, with absolutely no compassion for their unfortunate Victims....and NO remorse for their Crimes......
