Mount Union woman killed in crash

An 86-year-old Mount Union woman was killed in a car crash in Fannett Township on Monday morning.

As to the reporting of this accident, how did the southbound driver strike the driver side of a westbound vehicle???

If you were the person that was in the dump truck and were on 75, heading towards the Turnpike, that is South, correct? So that would make the striking vehicle the SOUTHBOUND VEHICLE. The elderly lady in the Metro would have been WESTBOUND if she was struck on the driver's side. She had ran through the intersection. So, it does make sense that the southbound vehicle struck the westbound vehicle on the driver's side. I drive through that intersection at least twice a day. I believe that 75 runs N&S and 641 runs E&W. Hope that helps. I feel so sorry for both families. Who knows why the lady ran the stop sign and the poor guy in the truck; it wasn't his fault.

Check your compass, chicky. West is toward Shade Gap. South is toward the turnpike. He would have had to hit her passenger side, not that it matters.
I am curious to her identity. I know a lot of people in Mount Union.

My brother was driving the dump truck the elderly lady drove into the path of. Our family is devastated. We are trying to find out her name and we have not been able to. We have no idea why she ran through the stop sign. Her car was so small and the dump truck is so big. There was just no way to avoid it.

The point of impact was the driver's side of the vehicle. My brother was driving the dump truck she pulled out in front of. We are trying to find out her identity also. Can someone help?

Her name was June Patterson. she was 76 yrs old not 86

I was following the elderly lady who was killed on Sept. 1. I was astonished to see her launch her car directly into the path of the truck. She didn't stop. The driver of the truck appeared to be driving well within the speed limit and he had the right of way. About 5 minutes prior to the fatal accident the lady stopped her vehicle completely on the highway to ask a construction crew a question. Then she sped off, alternately slowing down and looking side to side, before speeding off again.
