I have a feeling that she may be owned. It's very rare to see a stray animal that is severely overweight, what more one that is 44 lbs! Most of the animal that I see that are severely overweight are usually "spoiled" by their pet parents. Hopefully someone recognizes her from the news and claims her.

I agree. Strays don't become overweight. This kitty looks like its been taken care of by someone. There was a "stray" cat that turned up in Oregon last year that was pretty heavy too. It's owner had been looking for it for close to a month. Hopefully "Princess Chunk's" owner will see her and come to the shelter to claim her.

Absolutely! Strays don't normally let you hold them (no matter how fat they are) with such a calm expression. She is a cutie pie though and I hope they find her owner or a really great home.

It could be that she was recently abandoned, perhaps the owners moved or passed away. Personally I dont think that she should get back with the original owner, obviously they cant take care of her properly. I mean we've had some larger cats but this is a little overboard. I hope they can help her lose weight so she can have a long happy life.
