No, Angela + Rita = Smart people who actually care about animals. They're choosing not to ignore the fact that this poor cat will most likely DIE due to the health complications brought on by obesity -- it's harder on animals than most of you realize.

As for all of you who are saying "Come on, only two more pounds for the record," you clearly have no intelligence. The cat is basically on death row, and letting it gain any more weight yould lock in its fate.

So all of you who are posting comments about how you find it "funny" or if you see it as "not a big deal," just realize that it should technically be regarded as animal abuse. You should be ashamed of your ignorance and of your feeble attempts at humour.

I have a cat that clocked in at 22 pounds. We couldn't figure out why kept getting fatter (he was on a low-cal diet and had an auto-feeder)- turns out when we weren't home he was eating the dog's food! We put two and two together when the dog and cat had back to back visits - the cat and kept gaining weight, but the dog had lost 5 pounds.

The cat no longer has access to dog food and has now lost three pounds.
