um, excuse me, so dumping the cat in the street is acceptable??? she should be charged...who does that??

they taste like chicken

That is horrible. Why wouldn't she just bring it to a shelter or try to find it a good home instead of just putting him out on the street?! Unacceptable.

I completely agree with "barf"..woman needs to move so she tosses the cat into the street? That is so wrong!!

the only "victims" in the forclosure debacle are the taxpayers who will be forced to foot the bill for the bad judgement of borrowers and congress full of idiots who forced the lenders into the sub-prime market to begin with.
Funny how one can afford pets but not to put a roof over their head...I wonder...do they smoke? Do they have cable tv? It amazes me how many people cannot "afford" things...unless they are things they want. Hey, why put a roof over your lazy head when you can cry "victim" and get someone else to foot the bill. |

$100 bucks says the broad that claims she let the cat go cause her house was foreclosed is a lying liberal.

Why did the lady abandon the cat and leave it wandering alone? She should have turned it over to a shelter to begin with. Shame on her. People like that shouldn't be allowed pets in the first place.

Umm, the caption in the photos claims its female while the story itself identifies it as male.

After just seeing the breathtaking Christian the Lion video and crying over how touching it is, this story makes my blood boil. I don't care if she is elderly and a "victim" of foreclosure, she's a cruel, selfish, vile woman. Her name and face need to be shown and she should be subjected to the public ridicule she so richly deserves.
So the lady decides she can't keep her cat, so she dumps her on the street??!! Unbelievable--and heartless.

So, will the owner of Powerder be charged with animal neglect? Either for allowing the poor cat to end up so grossly obese, or for abandoning the animal?
I'm glad that animal homelessness is getting a spotlight shone on it. It's a serious problem. But the owner should not be rewarded for abandoning her pet rather than finding a home for it. |
Boo hoo. No sympathy for her. She could have taken that cat to a shelter. Its her own fault for living in a place she couldn't afford. She should be charged with animal abuse for letting the cat get so fat in the first place, and for dumping him on the street.
Foreclosure's no excuse to abandon a pet. The owner should have brought the cat to a shelter herself instead of just turning him loose.

Let's drop that heartless woman in a desert with no food or water. Let's see how well she survives. So many irresponsible people out there. How hard is it to take a cat to the shelter. Did she really care if the cat suffered?

I am sorry that this woman lost her house, but she totally over-feeds this cat to the point where he can't walk and will probably die of fatty liver or diabetes....then when she loses her house she just TOSSES THE CAT INTO THE STREET? I am not an attorney, but where I come from ( Florida ) animal abandonment is a CRIME. She should be brought up on CHARGES...This is a terrible crime of ANIMAL ABUSE.....and I don't think that "fat cats" are funny at all ...and no doubt the TV shows will make a big funny deal of it. I had a cat once that died of fatty liver because he came to us as an adoption and I could not get the weight off him. This is a terrible story. I hope whoever adopts this poor cat really wants to help him.

It is horrible to leave an animal out on the streets, as they cant take care of themselves, esp at 10 years old; esp at being so fat it cant run or hide; esp after being in a house for so long. Cat food is $2.50 for a big sack here, water is free. Doesn't surprise me the owner got foreclosed on sounds like a self absorbed idiot.

Time to send granny off to the nearest Soylent Green factory!

The cat is a victim of the owners bad diet and financial decisions.

Although we don't know why the woman's house was foreclosed, and with it being so common these days, it's not our place to judge, I fully agree that the cat's owner should be charged with animal neglect for abandoning the cat. She should have taken him to a shelter.
I completely disagree with the people here who say that it's cable TV, or other luxuries that are responsible for home foreclosures. The problem is WAY beyond that. Cancelling cable won't save homes from foreclosure. Get real. |

Funny how 'the economy' is to blame for the foreclosure and not irresponsible spending or borrowing...
