I've noticed lots of such messages on Topix lately from various locations. If you're serious this is hardly the way to go about it. I'm sure a private investigator could find him in an hour or two by using the same technology that's available to you; the Internet. And no, I don't mean by having someone contact a complete stranger with private info.

To Whomever: I did not ask for your opinion I am asking for help, I am looking for my uncle that is all and if you have nothing nice or informative to say then don't comment. A lot of people use different methods of finding someone and just because you feel that my method is not to the way you would do it, then its obvious you would not exhaust all resources when looking for a loved one, if you have any at all that is. I have for your information hired a private investigator and decided to look for myself also. You can judge me by calling me nuts but at least I am looking and using all my options. You do not know me so therefore do not judge me unless you have walked in my shoes.

Good luck with your search.
Research public records. The National Archives and local county libraries have archived databases of public information. Start your search by looking for birth announcements in the newspaper. This may tell you exact dates, locations and the names of the parents. For adopted children, contact churches in the area the child was believed to be adopted near. They may have records of baptisms or confirmations. The National Archives states that you can find information on almost in anyone in their archive selections.
Contact the local county clerk's office. Some records may be public knowledge such as birth, death, divorce and property transfers. These records hold clues of the general or last location. Utilizing public sources will help you gather a broad range of data for your search.
Utilize free online tools to gain more information. Using Melisadata or Infosearch, you can type in a person's name and a search result will appear. It will also list that persons last known addresses, age and possible roommates or relatives.
Hope this is more helpful than someone on topix sending you on a wild goose chase.
