At my local no-kill shelter, when people want to adopt a second or third animal, they bring the first animal from home to meet the prospective addition and get acquainted. Some are instant buddies while others are not a good match. You'd be surprised at the number of people who come in with their pet, who is little more than an overfed roly poly ball of fur with tiny legs and paws. Big pets are just as bad, can you picture a labrador so fat her head is lost in the rolls of blubber? Makes me wonder how Princess Chunk grew to such a poundage. Can't be good for the bones, heart or kidneys.
I am glad it found a great home. The mass of kitties needing homes has grown, please remember to spay or neuter your cat.

The story says about 500 people called to adopt the fat cat, but not a single one was interested in adopting any of the other cats in the shelter. Sad.

These people were prepared to adopt Chunk, but when he got adopted they wouldn't adopt any others? That's pathetically selfish.
One of the conditions of the adoption was that the family remain anonymous so they'd get a family that really wanted him, not just to get some big TV appearance bucks out of it. I find it so sad that nobody wanted one of the healthier cats or kittens.
