This was in todays paper under police logs. What was our city officer doing outside city limits while on duty? I help to pay police salaries so I would appreciate it if you would stay and protect the city and let the county sheriffs office do their job.

Monday

5:38 a.m. Officer observed large grass fire on 29th Street several miles north of Doolin. Fire department responded, along with Braman Fire Department assistance.

That is interesting. But, I'd think they probably saw it and naturally drove to it to verify if it was a controlled burn or not. I've lived many places and in small towns(Blackwell really is just a big small town); often the cops drive outside of city limits when an apparent accident, fire, etc. is within site or a citizen informs them of one. They do this usually to simply assist sheriff's, Highway Patrol, etc. But, have the city limits been extended? Kinda like you used to never see a cop between Home National and McDonald's. I never got pulled over speeding out to I-35 by a cop (yes, I used to be a bad speed demon). Now, you see cops cruising that stretch and even; posted up, & we know they pull over quite a few on a weekly basis.

Good answer Jeremy but with all due respect to you I am not buying it. If they see something they should call a sheriff to check it out. That is their job. Blackwell police often cruise by the elks which is out of their juristriction. They just want to see what cars are there so that when they come into town they can stop them. They are wasting my tax dollars on fuel and time.

You police work for me and dont forget it. You are not above the law and you need to start following the rules. I will start calling you on it. I think I need to repost the article on Officer Kapinsky.

I understand where you're coming from. If that's the case then yes; by all means, they need to answer for wasting gas and being unproductive. I know small town cops spend a lot of "sit down" time. That is part of their job. But, driving miles outside their jurisdiction; is a slap in the face to the citizens who pay their wages. That's like city councilmen who approve contracts to people they personally know.

If someone were to police the police and higher ups in politics then I am sure they would be caught doing alot of things the rest of us would be arrested for. Like the commissioners getting free gravel for their driveways, etc... Maybe we all need to start driving by their homes and farms and start photographing all the free wire, pipe, gravel, labor from city workers they are actually getting for free. Who wants to join me???

I see them constantly speeding upon cars without sirens or lights. They have done this to me and I dont drink or do drugs and always follow the rules of the road. It looks like they must be going at least 60 mph and then they slow real quick. If the car in front of them were to break real fast the police car would hit them. I am not sure why the police do this but I do know that they are not supposed to go more than the speed limit especially in town and even during an in town chase.

Actually the officer was in city limits. The glow of the fire was extremely large and could be seen from even Furguson. I know cuz I was coming home from work at that time along Furguson and could see it. I asked, and police officers in Blackwell (and many other places) are allowed to travel outside the city if a city ambulance or firefighter is responding outside the city. It's so they can help in case anything is wrong, or they need traffic control, etc. And also, at that time of the morning, I've heard the sheriff's office say they only have an on-call deputy, not a deputy actually out patroling. Can you imagine how long it would take for them to get there in that case to see if it was a fire? Obviously it doesn't concern you - you just have a serious grudge with either the PD or the city itself and can't look beyond your own issues.

I pay taxes in the city and I'm OK with helping out a fellow neighbor, which is what was done here. If it had been your land, you'd have appreciated the help.

Good point as far as that possibly being a police officers wife. If so, it is understood if they are taking up for thier spouse. That is the correct thing to do. No need to intagonize drama on this forum. As we both know there has been plenty of that. Let's all just be respectful and be a part of the cure and not a part of the disease. Politics are so dangerous and tend to be polluted by nonsense.

I know that is an officer's wife or an officer because I know for a fact that you could not see the fire from ferguson or blackwell. What she is doing is outright lying to try to make excuses for why this officer was miles outside of Blackwell. It is called trying to cover their butts. This voter is not buying it. That what this whole discusson is about and by the way, citizenX, I don't need you to referee for me. Either stand for something or fall for anything.

It's not correct to do if they are in the wrong. I don't take up for mine if she's made a mistake nor will I for any family member or friend. And if they love and respect me; they don't lie or take up for me if I'm in the wrong. I was raised right in that; you admit your mistakes and don't lie for anyone. It is noble to "defend" a loved one but, it is cowardly to if your defending dishonest or immoral acts. That's the problem with this country. Everyone want to make excuses or lie in order to avoid responsibility for their actions or lack of. This is Topix where drama reigns supreme. However, one must call a spade a spade correct? Honesty is the only way to solve problems where corruption, dereliction of duty, or abuse of power are the root. Hope all is well.

Not refeering anything. Just trying to keep the peace. Just a "hippy" moment I guess. You know the facts about this obviously I don't. As our friend hoar always says "knowledge is power" apperently I have no power on this issue.

Hey X. I didn't mean to appear to be angry at you. Just giving my 2 cents and how I felt on this. Most "Hippies" are pretty cool people.:) I don't know the facts just, what I personally feel about loyalty and integrity. We all must make sure those with power don't abuse it. For there is a difference. Many with power do not have knowledge. We have knowledge thus, power. Therefor, we must work to contain the disease of greed that is spreading. I'd rather be a poor smart man than a dumb rich one any day. Keep your head up.
