Basically Mike run for town office they can't afford to give you free papers because they are to busy painting old buidings some occupied and some not just to make the town look good. But yet while moving one busness to a new spacious more location doesn't mean the company means that the company is actually growing it just means that the company needed a bigger office. I reckon the files are too big for them because people live longer these days. But Our tax dollars are paying for their paving. I don't think their is anyone it town office or county that can appraise for that type of work. Mike I am not stepping on toes I have been in construction 20 years there and call it as I see it but that is okay we won't lay off any town employees they have families to feed so we relie on our tax payers to pay that. I have been in construction 20 yrs. so I ought to know. So Please tell me what else does this town plan to do because the guard unit is leaving. So tell me how we plan to keep Nottoway affloat?

The Town does not own the newspaper, the freedom of press does not mean it is free. I myself do not get a free newspaper and I have cousins that are editors. But not in this county.

I assure you that you did not see either CSI or me there. Maybe in a fantasy. But enjoy your beer, as hot as it has been that is something to cool off on a hot day. Me I was busy doing something for the cancer survivors. Hate to see anyone going through that. You can never know about those people in the bar.

Aw Big Daddy, sometimes go over to a school board meeting and you will see what I mean. BTW I will always remember Big Daddy from the Long Hot Summer. He reminded me of my sister's father-in-law. Hell he would have given you the money for one. Oh well as I said before we all have to lighten up and laugh a little.

I have but the problem is when I sober up the problems are still here. They won't go away by themselves. I think people need to go out and see what the world is like out side of Nottoway. I think Billy needs to go on vacations and see what thriving counties and towns and cities are doing to see what it takes to make ours improve. Wouldn't that be great. Take the summer days to check out how some are improving and pick which improvements could help us. Billy you are a real go getter but maybe you even need some fresh ideas. Check the population of other counties with same amount of land and see what improvements are being made. All these large companies people are against started out a small company and had proper management and grew. That is what it is about. Until these companies start growing around here we will have people on the unemployment lines and our kids moving away. And the people who do have jobs will be complaining there is nothing to do. You can't make everyone happy. But you can try and make the majority happy. I do believe our census showed the youth is the majority. And they are declining in numbers everyday. So do you know what will be left here if Wal-mart and Foodlion decide to go? A bunch of pedifiles and senior citizens most in the old folks home who can't even defend themselves the big picture is here now. You make what you want of it. I personally don't want to worry about my mom and dad or my husbands mom and dad when it gets to this point. And it is getting there. The governor has already stated that Pickett will remain Pickett but the guard unit is gone. I have spoke to soldiers who didn't even realize this was happening. But they even say Nottoway has nothing to offer. This is what our soldiers who fight for our lives think. But you want to try and get them to stay. They said if There was more to do here they would try to fight to stay but they would rather be closer to better entertainment and competive prices. So open your eyes people you have to give them something to want to stay. I don't have all the answers I am asking for all inputs. But the secret is you have to be one percent smarter than the rest. So you Blackstone girl and anyone else start asking around and you may find yourself surprised. Just try and see the future before it happens. And 20 yrs has flown by.

Now I have it and I was right. Trust me I went through the same thing enough to know it in another person. We have gotten out there and done the research and talked to people. It may have taken 20 years but it finally came to fruitation. And now that we proved it, we can work on other things. But we have to leave egos at the door and get it done. Simple.

I can agree with that too. You take it to the board cause I am not ready to run just yet. If you know what I mean. lol. I am the dog that likes to bark alot not bite. I can say what I think to would benefit the county. But I do know Once you step on to many toes I don't care if you have good ideas or whatever no body on the board is going to want to hear what you have to say. Good luck on taking it to the board I put it this way I am not going to add no feathers or tar to it. lol. Girl power go.

There are two guest2 and that is evident from the server address. One guest2 presents a reasonable comment and the other gets upset over things that should be left in the past. It is okay to be upset, but it is another to lash out at everyone who are trying to help. Think about it.

Dear Guest 2, we are not giving up on the Guard Headquarters, I assure you. Those who move away from Nottoway for the better entertainment had best be prepared to pay higher taxes and encounter more traffic. However, I agree that we need more opportunities here for our children. Our big recreation center project was put on hold because of the medical center project. If we had not joined with the state and Bon Secours, we were going to lose our doctors. A community with no family physicians is not much of a community. We will not rest on our laurels, and we will keep moving forward. THANKS to all...

If the one personality really knew the town, they would know that. Now I do know that in Chesterfield they pay taxes twice a year. People always think that the grass is greener on the other side. I agree we can not rest or our laurels, we have to move forward. Who knows what can be achieved.

You all say higher taxes. But I do know of a state that doesn't even have state taxes. Because the cops have enough revenue by busting the real crooks. It is called the Volenteer state. Alot of the companies donate money. They may have higher property taxes one time fee but not state taxes. Difference is Big companies donate money to get that tax break. Hell in that state they have intereste rates on checking and savings, Because they know how to double the money. I reckon the secret to having that success you have to be one percent smarter than everyone else. There when people do hit hard times they pass a cap around and take donations to help each other out. I think the county if they want the entertainment such and parks and building built we need to know how many square feet those big companies need set the land to the side and throw fund raisers. Charge admission fees to get in. Have appetizers and refreshments to sell for profits. But first we need to get major companies to donate to this and give these companies reciept so they can get a tax right of for charitable donations. Same with the rental equipment. Set that to a savings account and if all goes well use that money to throw a few more till we get what we need to build what we want. We accept volenteers to sell the refreshments and tickets all on the honor code. Honor code something I haven't heard in a while. Tell me what you think peeps and maybe yall can get the ball rolling.
