Moved here this year and thought it was one of the worst schools my child has attended yet! Very poor communication from teachers and just over all poor teaching! Principal was an idiot, who talked about kids terribly. Very happy my child will be attending different school this coming year!

Any knowledgeable person would not be so quick render such a judgement against Ruth Ann Horne. Many people may object to her methodology however, the results are/have been somewhat commendable for many families of "knuckle-headed kids. Mrs. Horne has been the mediator in many instances that enhanced the abilities and capabilities of kids attending that school between parents, between others who would otherwise have had your child removed from that school. She has been known to take it upon herself to "throw herself in front of the bus" to coin a phrase, in many instances to deal with problematic children who would otherwise be thrown out of the school as incorrigibles. I know from personal experience and I have an extensive history with this woman, she has on her own,and of her own volution, driven disavantaged or troublesome kids to school from their homes as well as transporting them back home. In an effort to keep some kids safe from some of their peers, she has driven them in her own personal vehicle to keep them from being beaten and assaulted by other kids on the bus. Behind the scenes, I have found that after careful and tedius investigations (informal of course), that Ruth Ann Horne has stayed after hours to view video tapes to get to the nitty gritty of incidents which transpired while your kids were on that bus. Mrs. Horne went from being a person that I would have least liked to have had around my kids to one who I would've considered dating (if she were not married already). She goes far and beyond her call of duty as a principal, her awards should be synonomous with A Vote of confidence and thanks from all the parents who have benefited from her intervention. Of course she would like to get the job done (the old fashioned way) but is prohibited by rules, laws and other bitchy parents who don't invest a sufficient amount of their own personal time in the academic welfare and the social interactions of their own children. You know, the old saying still stands.."It takes a Village to Raise a child" and never has it been more evident than to see the success stories prompted by such a dedicated employee as Mrs. Horne. Trust me, you should be thankful that she is there looking out for your kids.

I know the principal as well, perhaps the teachers do not communicate as well as they should. However to impune Ruth Ann Horne is a lack of knowledge about her. I have been told that many kids know how to spell four letter words but not the proper english words. Parenting and teaching begins at the home.

why don't you stop moving around liek a gypsy and provide your child some stability?

I would like to commend Mrs. Horn for an excellent job she does with all the children. She knows every child by name in a school that has Pre-K through 4th grade. That makes a child feel good. I have not had any problems with my children being at Blackstone Primary School. My son has completed school there and my daugter is doing fine there. Things are probably done different in CA, but here we are small town and glad to be that way!
