Has anyone else been bumped from going to this school even though it's in the surrounding community in which they live? Note: I don't wish to have my child ride the bus so that's not an issue for us.

I think it's unfair. Is there any recourse? I'm not a somebody in this small town apparently.

yes i have. i live 4 miles from Midway and can see there bus stop on Hackelbarney road however i have to take my kindergarted to blackshear elem which is 7 miles. I was driving him anyway so the bus does not matter to me. I can't put a 5 year old on a bus when i see kids standing up all the time on them. I wish there was something that we could do. I also feel the lines are not in the right place.

Did you also get an acceptance letter from midway stating your child was in fact enrolled there first? I'm really angry.

go to BOE and request a transfer. In the event that someone moves or does not show up for their spot you may still be able to get your child in. It is my understanding that this is within the first week of school.

Is there a map online that shows the boundaries? I am looking to move soon and would like to know where my elementary child will be going. Thanks in advance!

I could not locate a map. There is a page on the BOE website that lists streets, but that's all I could find. I would like to see it laid out as well.

The problem isn't with the boundaries so much as the fact that they built the school much MUCH too small. There are more kids that live within a few miles of there than room at the school for them. Poor planning/misuse of money by the BOE. This year the pre-K registration was a nightmare. There are teachers who work at the school whose children may not get to go to school there because there are already too many kids in the area.
Although...if you think your kid is too good for the bus then it shouldn't really matter what school you send them to.

I never said I think my kid's too good for the bus. It's ridiculous that I live a couple of miles from this school, 10 miles from Blackshear, but do not have the option to go there. We are a stable family who will be here for the duration of my child growing up and are inconvenienced over UNFAIR BOUNDARIES! We're not the dregs of society who are here today/gone tomorrow who can and do get that option!
