It would have been much more if the DA and Tanner hadn't agreed to the settlement. Good call, DA and Attorney David McCrea. It wasn't their mess, but they ending up cleaning it up and did the best they could to save us all money!(At least 100K)

Roger had nothing to do with John losing his job. It was John who holds that responsibility. Also, who forgot to pay the insurance to cover the city in case a lazy employee decided to take a free ride? Enough said.

Only if they had saved it. County is cashing in CD's to catch up on bills then they are still going to be 500,000 short. On top of that they paid John 175,000. We have been told how well off we are in the county and now truth is we owe 750,000 plus. Who is doing the book to show we are doing good financially. Hope Andy gets a real audit before he takes control. Oh I forgot about the Fire/EMS situation those checks required 2 signatures
You all as taxpayers should demand to see who signed those checks......over 400,000 taxpayer dollars stolen.

You seem to know a lot so why don't you demand to see who signed the checks. Go to a Commissioners meeting and ask who keeps the books. Examine the books while you are at it. I am thankful the county has CD's to cash in when needed. Take John with you to the meeting. The auditing firm the county has is excellent and has one of the best reputations in Georgia.

knwsall...sounds like you no nothing. If you have been at the last meeting then you would know about how the finances in the County runs. This is not anything new. The County operates off the the tax money that is collected. Not much is brought in during the summers months. That is why the auditor suggested cashing in the CD's. They are certainly not drawing any interest sitting in the bank. You do realize that the economy is going through some rough times right now, don't you. That affects everyone. As far as the Tanner case, this should have been taken care of with the previous Chairman as instructed by the board. It's a shame that others that fail at doing what they are suppose to do because they are friends with him, sit back and let others take the blame for their errors. The board now is taking the heat for it when it had nothing to do with them. That's just wrong. And if Tanner had been doing his job instead of loafing, he would still be there. And if he had been doing his job, the insurance would have gotten paid and would have covered a law suit. Maybe it was him that deliberately set out to cause a financial burden on the County. After all exactly what has he accomplished on his own? Seems every personal business venture he has tried has went under. He brought NO businesses into the City or County while he was there. Strange how after he is gone, there have been several businesses that has opened up. Hummm, that should tell you something right there.
So before you start pointing fingers at people, you need to get your facts straight.

All our Government and Judicial system breeds is laziness and the right to sue for anything..... Get off your a** and go to work..... John Tanner should have been fired long before Roger took over... Leave Roger alone ... This is old news..... Let's see how good Hutto does when he has to go to Atanta and ask for grants etc.... GOOD LUCK BACON COUNTY..... We alll are going to need it...
