Just wondering if anyone else noticed the Alma/Bacon County ambulance AND fire truck up at Anytime Fitness Saturday? Apparently someone drove the city/county vehicles up to the gym to work out....wonder why they didn't just drive their personal vehicles to work out, wonder were they on the time clock? Must have been considering they were not in their personal vehicles. Maybe this is something to be checked into!!! hum??

THANK YOU FOR POSTING THIS....because I have noticed them too, along WITH taking their kids to school in the police cars as well. And that goes on "every" school morning. Also, I have noticed they drive the police cars to their home when off duty. Why don't they drive their personal vehicles to and from work and then once clocked in they drive the "tax bought" vehicles while on duty. I mean, isn't that what all other employers do. REA, and ATC for instance???

First of all, I believe the chief and captain at EMS/fire dept. are a joke. The captain was hired because him and the chief are buddies and neither one of them do anything. Paul Taylor is very biased and racist. He gets rid of the employees that have been there forever and do a great job so he can hire some more of his buddies. If you are not Morman get ready you will lose your job. If you don't believe what he believes you will be history soon. Kiss his A** and you can get a job. Paul Taylor you are a joke.

The fire and EMS employees are REQUIRED to go to the gym. There's actually a log of when they go. They usually do this on fire/ems time because it is a job requirement. If MY job required ME to go to the gym, I dang sure wouldn't do it in my FREE time. And police officers only drive their cars home if they live in the city limits (or very close proximity. Also, ATC and REA employees are not paid with taxpayer money (one of you seemed confused about that)

That is crazy that an ambulance driver is REQUIRED to work out at the gym.....there are 2 of them that go to the scene of an accident(i would think). Seems to me the APD and BCSD would be REQUIRED to be physically fit!! Futhermore, WHY not drive 1 vehicle and why take BOTH when there were 2 working out at the gym!! I am quite sure both vehicles use more fuel(they most likely run off diesel, which is more costly than gas) than a regular vehicle so why not CAR POOL? Save US TAXPAERS some money!! Wonder how all this fits into our City/County BUDGET? Had no money to make necessary reapirs to the jail but has the funds to work out at the gym AND drive the vehicles the TAXPAYERS taxes purchase fuel for! Oh and BTW, Because I know, highway 203 South is NOT in CLOSE PROXIMITY OF THE CITY LIMITS!!!

I checked this out. APD can drive their cars home if they are within 5 miles of town. FD and EMS are county employees. Reason told is that only 2 officers on duty and if extra is needed they can go straight to scene w/out going to PD then pickimg up their cars. I think that is a good idea.

Um, that's a DEPUTY, dear. I know where EVERY cop lives - and you're thinking of a COUNTY law enforcement officer.

Well now if you are truly concerned and really care. Go to the next City or County meeting and voice your opinion where it will count for something! Not on here where all you can do is PBMC. and please while your at it ask how much them people are making per hour, then ask to give them a raise for trying to help save your dumb tail!

Well said! People get on here and bitch but are too lazy to get off the Internet and go voice their opinions in an open meeting like productive citizens!

You check again because I am correct. APD can drive their cars home if they live within 5 miles of city.

Taxpayer and Taxpayer TOO whay are you so concerned with this? Are you so afraid that somebody gets a benefit you don't. Or is it because it just isn't fair. Well, guess what, life is NOT FAIR. You two act like a couple of third graders with your tattle, tattle, tattle. Good grief, grow up and worry about something important!!

I would prefer any law enforcement or EMS personnel to be in good shape if my life were in their hands. I feel physical fitness should be a requirment for all public service personnel. It lowers insurance cost which saves TAXPAYERS money. If my house were on fire i would be concerned to see out of shape firemen trying to fight for my belongings. As the police go. Big Deal. Drive the cars home. The neighborhood is which the officer lives is a safer place because of it.

. Yes they can but the officer that live on quote 203 is a deputy! And there are two APD officers that live on 32 not even a mile outside the city limits. And I think that as long as a cop live in the same county that they work they should be able to drive there cars home. just remember cops get paid to protect us and do the things that most people are to scared to do and see the things that most people will never see. And if u think that its such a big deal for them to drive their cars home go to a meeting! Or better yet go do their jobs and put up with all the bs that they deal with.
