It is a Christian issue when someone who calls herself a Christian--opens a business using God as a foundation for that business for several years (and yes there were scriptures written on the wall of her salon). Then she drags God's name through the mud by her infidelity on her husband and children, and now theft from her customers. These are all people who trusted her. I don't think we are judging her heart. We are just stating the facts of what her actions have been. She has stolen from us and you seem to think we are supposed to be okay with that because the economy is bad and poor decisions were made. If I stole from you, I bet you would not be so forgiving. If I took your husband from you, I bet you would not be so kind. It is so easy to be understanding when you are not the one who has been screwed over. You can support your "friend", but when she steals your money or husband, please be so kind as to not judge her. You know you would! You would be lying if you said you would not. Thank you and have a good day!

Whether you are Christian or not is not the issue. There are good people and bad people everywhere. There are also good people who make poor decisions. I would not call any of you a whore or worse if you made a mistake. I do not appreciate my friend being dragged through the mud. Not one of you knows what goes on behind closed doors. Not one of you is God to judge another's heart. The economy is suffering right now and everyone is cutting back. Who are you would have been able to keep the doors open longer if you tried. If you want to effect change, then try extending grace to another, even if they don't deserve it IN YOUR MIND. I'm sure you have been extended grace at times when you didn't deserve it. The legal choice is yours, if you need to pursue it do that, but leave the stories to bedtime and stop abusing someone you don't know. Thanks and have a great day.

Truth - you're right. We have all been so arrogant to have judged another person or to have felt wronged. As soon as I read your post, I felt guilty and very much put in my place. I think I speak for all of the other customers who handed their money over to Ms. Griffin and received nothing in return when I say that we now see the error of our ways and we take back any and all negative comments. Upon reflection fellow posters, when we look at ourselves, can we not all remember when we relieved customers who trusted us of $10,000? Thank you Truth for your mature and perceptive diagnosis.

Well I'm not 100% sure that this was her, but last week I saw a black Lexus with the 1MEDSPA on the tag. I've heard that she drove a Lexus and the lady driving looked similar to Ms. Griffin but looked as though she has went from a blonde to a brunette.

It is her. That is definatly her car. SHe also just bought a new house with her boyfriend.

Didnt know if anyone saw the news report on Channel 10 about her. They said that people could file legal actions on her if they knew they were going out of business.

In a Roanoke TImes article a while back, she admitted she had the business for sale on craigslist.

I'm not here to comment on Cindy. My statement is for all of you who think Cindy is opening a new salon by Taco bell. She isn't!!! It is Mine, it is called Revive Salon/Spa. Cindy is in no way affiliated with this salon. I really hope all of my clients will come and see us at our new location which should open April 2nd. I am sorry for all of you who, who have gift cards. And understand your frustration. As this has happened to myself with stupid mall stores. But Revive Salon/Spa was started by myself and Homa (esthetecian from Classic). we will have a grand opening party catered by Bud Fosters. Hope to see you all there. Jere

What happened is sad but rethink your decision to redeem your gift cards at Merideths. They don't know how to cut or color. Mary Ann cut and colored me. The cut was crooked and my color faded within a week. what we need is a good stylist who knows what ther're doing.

I am sorry that you did not like your hair cut and color and feel tht it is "crooked". I would have been more than happy to correct anything that you did not like. I have been doing hair for over 14 years and have a great clientele with no complaints. I want my clients to feel comfortable telling me if they do not like their hair cut or color. I am sorry that you feel the need to bash me on a discussion forum about Classic Body Image.
I worked there ( Classic)for 5 years, and have been at Merediths for over 1 year. It is the best salon I have worked at. The owners and the staff are top notch. I work with the most talented stylists in the area. My only regret is not working there before I did and being associated with Classic Body Image and their unethical practices.
I am sure that this is Jere, Homa or Cindy or one of their friends bad mouthing me. Thats ok, my clients know the truth.
Merediths is doing the community a favor who have been royaled screwed by Classic. They want to clean up the mess that she has made. I wish Jere and Homa the best with their new salon.
I would appreciate it if you would let me know who you are if you are a real client so I can address the apparently personal issues that you have with me instead of anonymously posting something thats not true...

I, too, am not that happy about not being about to use my gift card, but it is out of line to say that a person is going to hell. A person is saved from hell by believing in Jesus, not by doing good works. Therefore, they are not destined to hell by making bad choices. We are saved by grace, not by anything we do.
Grace! What in the world are you smokin'??? Jesus is NOT a get out of jail free card! You cannot just go around doing whatever you feel and then say you're a Christian! The Bible says they'll know you by you ACTS! You are right that no one should condemn this woman...that's God's job, not ours...but sister you have got to walk the walk!!!!!

This has got to be a joke! Someone is kind enough to take a loss to help us who have been screwed over out and then we have the nerve to bad mouth them in public. If we REALLY have a problem, then we should go back and talk to the stylist, but I personally doubt that there was a problem. It sounds to me as if the owner Classic Body Image Salon just wants to ruin someone else's reputation. She could instead be giving a few "straight" haircuts or a couple of manicures from her new house to make up for the money she took from her customers. I'm just saying!
holding out 4 an apology

Wow...am I glad I abandoned that sinking ship when I did. I'm commenting about my personal experience because I think it is important that people know how aware she was of the downward spiral that Classic Body Image had become. I personally lied to debt collectors for many months and took messages that I knew she would never return. However, it was when my paycheck bounced (for the 3rd time...because of an apparent need to use the payroll account (MY hard earned money) to pay off her personal debt) that I realized she did not have the business, her employees, or her amazing clientele's best interest at heart. Like someone mentioned earlier, she put the business/equipment up for sale on Craigslist long before she sold a lot of the outstanding gift cards in question. How can anyone say that those gifts cards were sold in good faith? It was a scam.
Oh yea...does anyone remember the Sunshine promotion and how she tried to weasle her way out of fulfilling the obligations to her new customers? We all make mistakes people, but it's how we acknowledge them and own up that makes ALL the difference. I think we would all agree that an apology would do wonders here.

I sent this earlier but it has not shown up so here it goes again.
So everyone here wants to know about Classic Body Image.
Well as far as this post is concerned its supposed to be about the business and gift cards, but you have made it personal.
As far as my personal life, I want to keep it that way. How bout you all put your "REAL" names up so we can get into "YOUR" personal life. But I will sum this up for you with the "CORRECT" information.
Its sad that you have to drag my ex into this as he had not had any dealings with Classic for 3 years and none with myself. He has no knowledge of my personal or business financials or my life for that matter.
I have 4 beautiful children who live with me and are happy and healthy in my home, thank you for your concern. And yes I will be married to my loving, caring fiance this year.
And to those of you who see me in town "I live here" and will continue to do so.
As for the statementsfrom former employees(which are probalby on this site. Why don't you list your real name here because you probably got fired and if you have issues with me give me a call, or better yet lets air "YOUR" personal life and employee record.
And to Ms. Dowdys comment to the news and here, she failed to admit she cancelled appointments the month of January leaving the tech without appointments for that time slot given to her.
Now the real reason for this "TOPIC"..
I was in business for 10 years, during that 10 yrs, I "PERSONALLY" put in hundreds to thousands of dollars into the business and to claim that money was paid on my personal debt is a lie.
I as well as my employees and clients know I worked my tail off and made a total of 4 paychecks the entire 10 yrs. So to all of you who judge me and think I was rolling in the money, think again...
I really cared about the business and wanted a nice place for clients to come and employees to work, even though I had no monetary gain.
And as to the main issue here, gift cards:
I'm sorry for your lose, it was not my intention to sell them and close. I did all I could to work things out and stay, but to no fair agreement tendered. All the monies on the gift cards went right back into the business and if you would like information on that, we can contact my CPA because he has all the financials on the business.
I have extended grace to employees,& training and clients with expired gift cards, lost and stolen.
But I guess people only want to see the bad, not the good and I can only assume most of these post are some angry past employees.
I had alot of "Awesome", satisfied clients and will continue to do so in the future.
I would like to thank the salons who picked up the slack for the gift cards and would ask the the gossip not be allowed as I know if this happened to them, they would not to be on "display".
As to this site, this will be my last and final statement as I really don't have the need to have all the negitivity in my life. If you would like to contact me for any "Business" questions feel free to call me on the old number at the spa
and I will answer. As to the post of Merediths, I did not post this as I would never bash another business on a web site, I would call them and work it out there.
God Bless you all, and maybe this information helped you in your curiosity on all corners of my life.
And God help all of you if you are ever in a situation that you have to close your business.

The owners are thieves. They lied, they stole. And then hid behind
their fake morality to cover their arses. Plain and simple.
What's unfortunate is that with their dishonesty they also stole a business
that offered a quality of products (Aveda + others) and a supposed quality
of service.

I'd like to see a legit business owner take over their never-occupied space
at First & Main and open an Aveda Spa. They would do extremely well.

Oh - and before everyone gets all mad that I'm in NY...
I lived in Blacksburg for 35 years, attended all phases of my
education there from kindergarten through college, still have
many family members there and am there as a visitor + consumer
at least once each month. So I DO have a say.

$300 dollar gift card wasted... Said to my face to "come back in after 'renovations'" and I'd get a refund back. Had their hairdresser deal with everything. When I called, the hairdresser would refuse to even tell me the manager's last name, claiming he "didn't know it" (after eventually giving in); he also said she had changed her number so I should not try to contact her. Would anyone be interested in suing the company in a joint effort?

I am not here to bash Cindy, for any of her wrong doings, because clearly everyone else has already done that. I am only here to ask that people understand that things said on this are both true and false. I was a former employ of CBI and enjoyed it for the first half of my working there. I had no complaints other then not seeing Cindy more than a few times a month, if that. I thought the training and location were outstanding. But I also know that we as employs were well aware of the Businesses failures after several checks did bounce. Now, I in no way know where the money was going or how it was being spent. I just know that it wasn’t going towards my check or paying the electric bill because they came to shut that off at one point, but we talked them into giving us a day to pay. I also personally think that those gift cards were sold in an attempt to catch up on bills, not to save the spa. However I can’t actually speak for that. But I can say that if her employees knew that money was an issue then she HAD to know, she is in fact the owner. Things towards the end did get very rough; although I think the 14 employees quitting NOT getting fired speaks for its self. After the mass exit, she in fact kept the Salon open for another year. Nobody should judge Cindy on her personal adventures those should be for her and her alone, nor should any person speak ill of her ex-husband or her current boyfriend. This isn’t a bash the family talks, it’s a get the fact talk. True, I am sure she clearly knew that the business wouldn’t last, and financially she was in trouble, and I don’t blame anyone for being upset with her or those wanting to take legal action. But just remember that local salons and spas are taking those cards to help those of you who were royally screwed.
