I feel sorry for the members that scrape up a few dollars a week to put in the collection plate. They sacrifice their own families to pay for this guy's lavish lifestyle.
The Catholics still drop money into the gold plate with a big chunk of it going to the church's legal defense fund or paying for the upkeep of the Vatican. Give your money to charity. How about cancer research? Somewhere will it will do some good.

I sat under David as a pastor for many years, so I know him well enough to form an accurate opinion.
He left the church and cast everyone aside when they stopped paying him, and served no further use to him. He's never said he's sorry or apologized in any way. He's still arrogant and does not accept responsibility for his own actions.
This was NOT one time incident of theft. EVERYDAY, for 10 years, he made a daily conscientious decision to steal from the congregation, from his friends, people that loved him. He broke their hearts.
I hope he is able to come to his senses someday and realize how he threw lifelong friendships and relationships away so he could live his lifestyle.(I wonder, was it worth it David?) I hope he realizes that HE did this...nobody else...but HIM.
I wish he would call every former/current member of that church (our numbers have not changed) and truly apologize for destroying their hopes and dreams of having a new church, for leaving their current building in shambles, for destroying lives of the parishioners, for stealing every dime that it took a lifetime of sacrificing to save, for leaving the church financially destitute in every way.
He's been preaching and "making a living" at another local church in the Columbus area. Not one time, has he offered to make any kind of restitution or try to help the church out of the financial ruin that was a result of HIS actions. NOT ONE TIME!
I hope he uses whatever time the Judge decides to give him jail, to reflect on his actions and hopefully get himself right with each and every member (former or current)of the congregation and more importantly with God.

I learned a long time ago that some of the slimiest folks in the world are in the clergy. With few exceptions, it seems that anybody can call themselves a pastor and prey on innocent believers. At least this clown got caught.

I guess we can name other big time Pastors but we won't go there because we are suppose to support them. I am concern seeing fancy cars, fancy homes, and they be able to send there kids to college if they wanted to. They even get involve in politics.

He shoulda spent more on the Hair.

Giving money to the church is stupid, look at world harvest, potters house and all of the huge churches who are monuments to their pastors.

The court may have found him guilty. BUT I will say God IS going to have the LAST judgement. Thompson I will not cast you down for God has not cast me down EVER for all of my wrong doings. I will lift your name in Prayer every time I get on my knees.

If we go by your logic then we should just open the doors in every prison and let everybody out I suppose. We will continue to pray for David Thompson that he finds a place of true repentance and makes restitution for what he has taken from others, however, he is subject to the laws of the land and will have to do his time just like anybody else.

Every person who reviled the church on E Main St. and pandered to David Thompson needs to go to the church and apologize to the congregation. The line starts to the left folks and George Thompson and Posey should be at the head of it.

I am really sad that this all happened. No one is unaffected here. Pastor Thompson is affected, his family, the church members and former members, and everyone who has heard this story. Remember, this is not a law suit. These are criminal charges filed by the state. I hate to see him spend any time in prison, but choices have consequences. May God have mercy on him and all those affected. There are no "winners" here, but legal justice has been served.

Aren't all the mega-church pastors crooks? Oops, don't tell the lemmings that attend the mega-churches. IRS tax these churches, they are not tax exempt when they have multi-million dollar churches, homes, expensive clothes and preach politics from the pulpit. Fools and their money are soon separated.

So we're allowed to comment on this story but not on the Mifflin Sexual Assualt. Nor the Columbus State case...... Shows how much media trusts us all to be civil.
