Innocent means a crime was not committed. Not guilty means there wasn't enough evidence to convict. Dumbass.

Last time I checked a defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty, since Mr. Meda wasn't found guilty, he is continued to be presumed to be innocent. Hence, he's innocent. Dumbass.

Court appointed attorneys make squat - so the do very little work and convince their clients not to go to trial so they don't have to work hard. If you pay your own attorney- they charge a fortune. As an example I know of one attorney that charged a client over $20 K for a custody battle. It's a vicious cycle of poverty. The poor are not served well by the justice systme. How many innocent poorer people with court appointed attorneys are in jails across the country??

a person without money can obtain a court appointed lawyer. Which in this case Mr.Young was hired but he's also a court appointed lawyer. Obviously the Meda family doesn't meet the income guidelines for a court appointed lawyer. So if he had a court appointed lawyer everyone would be pissed that he won with a lawyer he didn't pay. If you are innocent you fight your case to the end, you don't plead guilty or accept an offer. That's absolutely ridiculous that you would say that one should simply plead guilty.

Well thank you to Lowville's finest, you always find a way to screw up the most simple arrests. We all look to you to find the criminals, arrest them and help to see that they are prosecuted. Time and time again this doesn't happen in our village. I, for one, am sick of the people who live here doing, buying and selling drugs. Get it together so that they can go away and help our village get clean again.
Well if that's the case be pissed at the cops for letting Nick walk amongst you committing crimes instead of being in prison where he belongs. He admitted to be high on drugs the whole time the cops had him working for them. He was driving without a license (on drugs) he stole another persons vehicle after signing a contract that he would stay out of trouble, he refused to be piss tested for the very drugs he was doing while under contract. 1 year ago today he was in court to be sentenced for breaking into his moms neighbors house and robbing her, instead he told authorities "ill get u someone" that someone very well could have been you. So before trash talking an INNOCENT man and his family anymore think about that. Nick was a very desperate person and very randomly chose a person and ultimately f*cked up their life forever. He us innocent, found that way in a court of law yet all of you view him as guilty because some piece of scum pointed their finger at him. Someday it could be you, wouldn't you want your peers to see you as innocent before, during and after a trial proved that that's what you are?

It has everything to do with Nick. If he wasn't a liar, thief and addict he wouldn't have been in the trouble he found himself in causing him to create more lies and having Andrew falsely arrested on bogus drug charges. Now your going to go as far as to publicly slander his parents? For one reason or another you seem to be bitter and jealous of a family that has worked hard for all that they have earned. Instead of spending so much time and energy hating on them you could use it to better yourself so you wouldn't feel the need to be envious of good people with strong family and work ethics.

Recent rumor circulating is that Leanne only pursued this case because of the contract with Mr. Panarese. Apparently his contract was that the information he provided had to lead to the DA prosecuting the case. If Leanne had dropped the case then Nick's contract wouldn't have been valid and there would have been pressure for Mr. Panarese to be prosecuted. By not dropping the charges Leanne ensured that Mr. Panarese's contract remained in effect and kept him shielded from prosecution (immunity) for other charges.

Raises the interesting question of why Leanne would want to protect this particular informant. Wonder if he has something on her.

Can anyone verify this?

Actually everyone arrested is presumed to be innocent. See Coffin v. United States. You are innocent, and remain so, until proven guilty. If a jury (or judge in a bench trial) returns with a verdict of not guilty, that presumption of innocence remains intact, and can never be revisited for the same offense.

Why is this such a hard concept to understand?

You kind sir have no clue what your talking about. The phrase is not " not guilty until proven guilty", but rather its " innocent until proven guilty". So suggest you pick up a book so you can comment with some intelligence. Because you come off like a dumb ass. Good day to you

I don't understand why selling heroin is illegal in the first place. We live in a free market economy. Let people make a buck for crying out loud.

They could just go to Port Leyden and get Mr. Mrs. Panarese. In all honesty I'm shocked that they haven't been arrested in connection to Billys heroin overdose yet. Must be they have a mandatory 2 year investigation protocol to follow. I'm also in disbelief that Nick and Officer Dale Roberts weren't charged with perjury for lying under sworn oath in the Meda trial.
