Ok so on the following roads:

Westinghouse Blvd.
S. Tryon
Carowinds Blvd.

After about 11:30am, and until sometimes 3:00am or even later the only sound that can be heard are these souped up rice burners blarring by and causing quite a disturbance for some of us people who have to be in bed by 11pm or so because some people actually have to work on the weekends.

Is nothing going to be done about this? Talk about annoying. Take your sorry peice of metal to Mooresville drag strip for god's sake.

I think police should start cracking down on these delinquents.

I lived in Charlotte right off of tryon for 2 years, and you know that if not for the races, many of us who went would have found some other way to get into trouble, that wouldn't just be reckless, but cause a hell of a lot more damage for the city. besides, you missed the more prominent roads that we raced on.

First, you probably drive a Ford Tarus. Get over it. We work, most of us, just like you. Just because we can work a 10 hour day off of 3 hours of sleep doesn't mean you have to get all huffy-puffy. If the police crack down on us, then we will move somewhere else. My "rice burner" will run you off the road any day. It's our life, don't disrespect. It's what we do, deal with it.

If you all had an education you could make big bucks racing. But of course drug addicts and idiots like you can only break laws. I see you in the welfare line or morgue in time. What a drain on the community you are. I guess your parents are proud. But then they are losers too I guess. Not much disipline in your family. Too bad we dont have a draft. Make a man out of you. All I see here is a bunch of delinquints.
Good luck in the homeless shelters. And you are not like most. You are the exception. Your parents must be criminals or inbreeds. Life will catch up to you and I will be laughing all the way to the bank.

I was at the race myself yesterday, for the first time. And what happened, was the most fun i ever had in my life, maybe not, but it was pretty awesome. There was nothing going on against the law. Just because a bunch of cars are gathered along the street, where there's noone working in the midnight, away from any houses, doesn't mean they're some delinquits. They got off work, and choose only one efing night in a week to relax and have some fun. How the hell anyone can complain about the noise if there weren't any houses around. Anyways, we are paying taxes so our roads stay nice, so why in the efing world can't a bunch of people who like to race, choose a road, where nothing is going on, no people working or anything, and race there?? It's not like we blocked some main part of road and were making traffic. This is efing retarded that people call racers delinquits, because i bet most, even maybe all of them have a job or some kind of monetary income and to relax from all the work they race, to get some adrenalin rush through their body. You probably don't know how it is to be a racer if you're calling us Delinquits and talking s&!t about our parents, because they didn't raise us well. F&!k you then, i love my parents alot, and i have a life, don't efing call me or my parents anything you F&!k.

Even thou I don't live in Charlotte, I live in Raleigh I still go down there to race. There are few tracks here in North Carolina (I think there is one in Morristown and thats it). It doesn't matter where you go, so we use the streets. There is a simple solution to this problem and solution is to simply build us some race tracks and some drag strips.

Here's an interesting link that gets you to a story on street racing.

http://www.csmonitor.com/2005/0810/p01s03-uss...

As noted in the article, in San Diego a possible punishment for drag racing is impounding your car and selling it, using the funds to enforce anti- racing laws. Also, it is a crime to watch street racing in the San Diego area. This year two California racers were convicted of manslaughter after they killed a pedestrian not involved with the race in any way. In San Diego they do have a drag race "track" set up by the police where drivers can race for $5 or $10 a night. Cars are teched to make sure they are safe and the racing is organized. The city cut the fatalities due to racing to virtually nothing. Think it's a good solution? If so, what can be done to get something like it going in the Charlotte area?
