Spokesman fro Long Johns said it was being rebuilt but it would be a smaller restaurant than the old one. I can't imagine it being smaller than the old one, but that's what they said. In addition to the dining area directly in front of the counters, Long John Silvers had a large dining area on the side of the old building toward the side parking lot and did not get much use. I suspect the new design will not have that wasted space.

I visited the new McD's one time and it was clearly a more complicated driving situation than before. There was a lot of traffic at the McD's and it went pretty smoothly. I am use to driving in heavy traffic so I did not feel intimidated or endangered but I can see how this increase in traffic at that particular area will likely fluster some. Especially the impatient drivers. I see alot of bad intersections each week and most are the result of the unfortunate placement and design of roads before cars became so common. Occasionally the problems are made worse by poor design or poor choices to locate things. What you have to remember about businesses is that they want to be at a spot where there is alot of traffic. I am sure the McD's folks love this location. But my experience driving everyday is that when these kinds of businesses get added to an already busy area, it makes the traffic slow down even more than before.

I drive that route at least 2 times a day. This afternoon, I was making a left turn from Lindbergh to Patterson Road North. Fortunately I was in the outside left turn lane. Some one making a left onto Patterson was in the inside left turn lane and after they turned, they stopped traffic to attempt a left turn into the McDonald's entrance on Patterson. I don't know if they were successful making the turn since Patterson South traffic had the entrance blocked. Also, there is still a no left turn sign that the driver ignored. I would think the jury is still out on the lasting impact this McDonald's will have on traffic flow at the intersection.

This happened to my husband the day before the McDonalds opened. People stopping short there are bound to cause a fender bender. Some people are just terrible drivers, and unfortunately they now have a new attraction to visit. I hope they quickly learn to turn left on Lindsay and then right into the parking lot. maybe they will put a median there. Apparently Modot overlooked that when they said there would be no impact on traffic. Sounds about right, they have been overlooking that whole stupid intersection for decades now.

I haven't noticed a difference in the traffic either by that McDonald's. Does anyone know anymore about Kohl's coming here? Are they really looking at the old Value City location?

I noticed a no left turn sign was put up. A few days ago, someone was trying to turn left into McDonald's from Patterson. It stopped traffic into the intersection. Thankfully, a Florissant cop was there, who pulled in and pulled over the driver. I imagine if enough people get tickets they will know that you cannot go left into that McDonalds.

Thankfully, a Florissant cop was there, who pulled in and pulled over the driver. I imagine if enough people get tickets they will know that you cannot go left into that McDonalds. That "No Left Turn" sign has been there for years when the old Rustlers Steakhouse was in operation. As of last evening about 6 PM I saw someone making a left turn there. Unfortunately if you bring this to the Council's attention, they'll tell you Patterson is a county road. So if anyone has any complaints, contact St. Louis County. I was advised to contact the Council and maybe they could have public works contact St. Louis County. My predictions are slowly becoming reality with regards to this intersection. I have suggestions, but I would get the same responses about Lindbergh being a state highway and Patterson being a county road. Florissant has what they wanted and said they studied the surveys. Evidently they didn't study the no left turn problem while they claimed to read and study the survey results. Too bad we don't have enough police to just sit there and write tickets. But then McDonald's may not like the fact they are writing the tickets. You know how businesses run the Mayor and the majority of the City Council.

Sorry. I had never noticed the signs, but I would never try to go left there anyway! I did, however, see first-hand how people trying to turn left mess up that intersection even more. I am not advocating for a cop to sit there and write tickets. I am sure they have far more to deal with. But, it seems it is asking too much for people to adhere to the law and not turn left there!

Maybe if the police wrote enough tickets, Florissant could do away with their 3% pay cut.

I personally would not go to a McDonald's no matter what kind of turn, left, right, or u-turn is involved.....its all junk food. But as a disinterested person, I suggest installing one of those red light cameras making it a no left turn camera. It would be a gold mine for the City, and the combination of the $100 fine coupled with the 2 Big Macs and large fries would result in an almost certain heart attack for the law breaker

YAY! I love Big Macs!!! Once a month if that. I drive by it every day, and traffic hasn't changed in a way that I notice. I live down Patterson and hit the intersection EVERY DAY, so I think I can guage pretty well. AND...it's business...dollars for our community. McDonalds is known as a company that gives back to it's community. They offer inexpensive food in the midsts of a recession. Although it's not terribly healthy, it will keep you alive. I welcome the new Mickey D's!

Huh wrote: <quoted text> I don't see a lot of "complaining". There is a legitimate concern about traffic. If you drive that way at all you know it is a very busy area on Lindbergh. The entire Lindbergh corridor from 270 to New Halls Ferry is pretty intense. People seem to accept it as part of living here. A McD's at that location will clearly make things a little more busy but development has two sides. You get things and you give up things. You save a little gas by driving a shorter distance but the time needed to make the trip will not always be better. Heck it ain,t that bad.Its no differant than going to Home Depot,Lowes,Dierbergs and so forth..Traffic is something we have to contend with.I say get rid of the cameras.
