A city manager requires a change to the charter. That can not happen with the current mayor in office...he won't let it happen.

Andrew Podleski has the education with a degree in math. He works with computers in his day job so he is comfortable this new technological age and could move the city toward a more efficient management system. He doesn't seem like the kind of guy that would go after dissenters or critics. He got a pretty good percentage of the vote last time. He has demonstrated the courage to ask questions and try to right the wagon that Lowery drove into the ditch. You get a grade "B" mayor or better with him.

Mark Behlmann is a hair smarter than Lowery (you can actually see the hair) and he is probably less qualified than Lowery. He has been one of Lowery's supporters ($) and that makes his leadership and loyalty highly questionable. As mayor, Behlmann would only be a move from Lowery's grade "F" to a grade "D-" in terms of mayoral quality.

Tom Schneider is much smarter so we would likely see a little better management but the same-old-same-old in terms of respect for the citizens. The guy has a really bad attitude problem. Plus Schneider has done ZIP ZERO NADA to help control the out-of-control Lowery. He has been in Lowery's pocket ALL along and even supported Lowery in the last election. For that alone he does not deserve to be mayor. We'd get a grade "D" or "D+" or at best a "C-" mayor with Schneider.

Robert Lowery...PUHLEEZE...NOT AGAIN! The guy is a disaster! If awards were ever given out for the worst managers in local government, he would likely win hands down. We have a major short fall in the budget and his answer is cutting salaries for everyone but himself...the guy makes over 100k a year with almost NO EDUCATION and terrible management skills and he thinks he still deserves a car and expense account on top of the outrageous salary. It is insulting. He's a grade "F" mayor.

Tim Lee? He is clearly smarter than Lowery. But he has not shown the leadership to even make a feeble attempt to slow down Lowery's spending spree. Like Schneider he is more of less an accomplice due to his in action and his tacit support. At best you'd get a grade "C" mayor with Lee.

You forgot the wild card, Spreng. Forget it. The guy is a tool of the union. He would be little more than a puppet and based on some of the decisions he has made in the past, he is not a very good leader or decision maker. Maybe a "C" as mayor but more likely a "D".

We don't need the guys from the bottom of the class leading this City any more. We need leaders that can learn and adjust and have shown they can figure things out and who have the courage to stand up for what is right in the face of the heat thrown at them by the very people who are causing the problems.

Thank you Miss Christine for that glowing and self righteous endorsement for your technologically savvy hubby...who by the way isn't likely to garner much in the way of union support. Spreng on the other hand, and in spite of his notable flaws, will gather union support as they migrate toward one of their own and turn their backs on the farcical Lowery. The others are just flies in the ointment.

Sorry...this is not Christine. Obviously you think you KNOW something but it is clear to me you only think you have things figured out.(LOL)

Look at the facts. It doesn't take a rocket scientist, or a candidates wife, to see the weaknesses and strengths of each of the people on that short list.

Take an objective look at temperament, education and other such factors that would make a person better suited for the position of mayor and the grades for each of those candidates are going to be pretty close to what I pointed out. Most of those names on the list have been part of the problem by either supporting Lowery and/or by doing little to nothing to control him. I added Spreng because he has been mentioned numerous times here at topix as a possible candidate.

Maybe a three way race between Lowery, Spreng and Podleski is just what we need. Lowery gets the uninformed voters, Spreng gets the union loyalists and Podleski gets the same people that voted for him last time plus a few more who have finally figured out what is going on in Florissant. That would probably be a win for Podleski.

Lee and Schneider are accused on this thread of always supporting Lowery. This site is well aware of the difficulty of challenging captain comb over. Schneider is diplomatic and respectful but does bang the gavel on Lowery and has the guts to confront him on important disagreements. Lee is constantly on the Mayors sh-t list for challenging decisions of the administration. These two are providing leadership in their second year of Council Pres and VP in a difficult situation without disrespecting the office. I know that is not what this site wants to hear but it is what I see when I watch the meetings on TV and talk to folks around town.

As Podleski saw in '07, union backing is a strong and decidedly significant factor in local elections. If Spreng pulls the entire union backed North County labor coalition away from Lowery and into to his camp, your candidate doesn't stand a chance, Sorry, that's just Norco Labor at its best and like it or not genius, they run the show up there. So best of luck in 2015.

What makes you think...
...Podleski can't get any union support?(He is pro-union.)
...the union membership will all line up behind Spreng?(They are not mindless people, many vote for whoever they like.)
...the unions have the kind of strength they had in the past?(Union members do not comprise over 50% of the electorate.)

2015?
Let's try 2011.
And it may be sooner if things keep going downhill as quick as they have.

BTW: Just because someone is a lot smarter than YOU doesn't necessarily mean they are a "genius".

Once again dumbass, you're clueless and not as smart as you'd like everyone to think. North County Labor WILL decide who your next mayor is and yes, they all stick together when they back a candidate. Unfortunately for you, it's not your guy that will get the winning majority of the union vote. BTW, those that brag about their intelligence often tend to lack any. So climb down off your holier than thou high horse and keep dreamin.

How do you know which votes were from union members and which votes were from non-union members?
Please explain this ability to know how people vote and for whom based on union affiliations.

Obviously you have known a lot of the wrong people.
Your statement makes me suspect you are not the sharpest tool in the shed.
"...book smart people who are dumb as a box of rocks!!"
Really? No really?
Your "little gem of wisdom" may sound like a clever or rational statement to you but to me it sounds like you are just blowing smoke and are fairly clueless yourself.
Well-educated and intelligent people who are the "good student" types will always have an edge over the "average person". It is not a "lock" in every situation but if you want to bet money, bet on the educated with intelligence and you will win more than you lose.

You give a lot of credit to north county labor in terms of their political clout. I have a lot of friends in unions and I have never heard any one of them say, "I vote the way the union tells me." In fact they vote the way they see fit. You make union members sound like mindless fools who will do whatever they are told. Just because someone joins a union does not mean they leave their brains and opinions at the union hall door.

BTW: I did not "brag" about my intelligence. I merely mentioned that just because someone is "smarter than you" does not mean they are a "genius". You brought up the term "genius" in an attempt to be derogatory or sarcastic. It is pretty clear you are not very bright since you feel you must rely on insults to try and make you point. By pointing out your flaws I am not "bragging". If you really knew what you are talking about you might come up with some real rebuttal instead of weak opinions bolstered by insults.
So climb down off your "I can't think for myself" hobby horse and grow up.

Another "impressive" reply by a Lowery supporter.

I never had a "good pimple". You obviously like pimples. "Cased closed" is right but I think you got your head caught as the lid came down!

It's a good thing Lowery has money to help him win elections because his supporters are clearly dim-bulbs and not much use other than when he needs to have his opponents yard sign stolen or to use some other classless tactic.

Daily Horoscope for December 8

Leo

If you're worried about running up big debts in what is usually one of the most expensive months of the year, start keeping a running total of how much money you've spent so far. You might have to restrict the amount you spend on Christmas presents, or make other savings in order to stay within your budget, but you realize the folly of ending up severely out of pocket.
