The Florissant forum on the yuku site was started because a regular poster here was frustrated with the fact that people could say just about anything they want here on topix. With yuku you had to register which helped prevent using multiple names and other such tactics that helped protect or maintain anonymity.

I understand that frustration but as it has been explained many many times here on topix that anonymity is a two edged sword.
Anonymity can be used to protect the evil or the good or the powerful or the weak, all equally.

Some choose to be "known" and that is fine if it does not present any possible threat in terms of safety or, more commonly, privacy or livelihood.

The fact is that people do not use yuku as much because of the anonymity factor. It has nothing to do with the person who started the forum.

The baseless and insulting comment above from "Yuku Phu Ku", is a perfect example of why yuku looks inviting to some. If you see enough of that sort of useless post that does nothing but lower the level of discourse, you can understand why many come here and are disgusted.

As the old saying goes, "It takes all kinds." Topix gets all kinds. There are very intelligent and polite posters and some other posters do not posses those characteristics.

It is too bad that some people also have less patience or "thin skin" and turn away from topix in disgust. Despite the less civil and less intelligent postings there is a good community here of people with good thoughts and ideas if you can find a way to filter out the nonsense.
