Sorry, but the only people who think Minot is an oil boom town are some of the city leaders in Minot. Most towns in western ND look at Minot as an air force town and no more an oil town than Bismarck. No way has Minot grown 10,000 people in a couple years. The building permits issued for housing do not support another 10,000 people. The majority of Minot's construction permits are more likely related to the re-building after the flood.

Minot is not in the Bakken.

It is an outright lie to say that Minot is in the heart of oil country.

Minot might want the money, but I am sure they do not want the extra people and crime that goes along with it.

But they sure THINK they are high crime. Stop spending $$ on officers with nothing more to do than harass homeless people and issue parking citations. Guys from out of state who barely graduated high school and need 3 cars to make a traffic stop. Notice the graffiti lately? Sic 'em cowards. I dare you.

I got "stopped" while I was pulled over for an emergency vehicle.
Officer, "Do you know why I stopped you?"
Me, "I am stopped, NOT speeding,I have my seat belt on".
Officer, "The ambulance had to swerve to get around you".
Me, "No he didn't", 4 lanes, I look behind me, everyone is stopped and all have an officer in the window.
I had valid insurance, valid registration, valid license and my first valid $20 ticket for failing to comply with a law I was indeed in compliance of.
The curious officer is sure there is something up. He kept questioning me. Where was I going? Where was I coming from? Had I drank? I started to explain but gave up quickly. I think his mind was made up. It was a holiday. It was late. There was something up. It was my business. I learned my lesson. This criminal no longer leaves the house at night. Honestly, I was only going to see a friend who got off shift from Trinity at Midnight. I was getting help with my daily injection. I wanted to rotate my injection site. My tummy was sore as hell and thought a hip shot would give me some relief.

Im prior service so have done a ton of traveling. The gentlemen in this town are the worst I have ever seen for stopping for little crap like turn signals or phishing expeditions while the oil guys with no mufflers roar by at 70mph down Broadway nearly missing pedestrians. Guys. Seriously organize a REAL priority list. Stopping grandmas and the medically disabled who are guaranteed not to kick your ssa, meh. Grow a pair.
